Et Tu Brute.....

It's not expecting us to win NC's every year....

It's expecting a program that did rise to prominence... that attracts top 10
recruiting classes almost every single year... a team with a reputation in the
past of playing tough.. to be a ranked, competitive team.

I'm with sadlerdawg on this one. I don't care that we don't have Bama's pedigree--go get me someone who can GET us to that point.

At one point in time, bama had to grow into that pedigree.

We actually have advantages over Alabama.

1. More $$$ overall flowing through.
2. More talent in high school here than in Bama.
3. The airport in Atlanta.
4. The ATL TV market.
5. No other SEC team in our own state competing with us like they have in Alabama.

Look at Bama under Shula and the others before Saban--they stunk. now, IF Bama had stuck with bad coaches, there wouldn't be anyone under 30 alive who remembers the Bama Glory Years. Where would they be??????

A kid who is 15 and being recruited by bama knows the saban success there---not the Bear's success.

BAMA..

The 13 NC's or whatever it is.. is mainly from another era. An era long gone when
places like the University of Georgia didn't even have a TV game until game 7
of the regular season and would do well to get 2, maybe 3 games televised all
season.

Big time recruits needed to go to one of the 4 or 5 major programs. It was a time
of legendary coaches when only those 4 or 5 teams attracted the talent necessary
to be a national champ.

That era is long gone.

How could it do anything but get better? But it still won't reach UGA standards.

UGA has averaged 6.3 wins per season historically. In 117 seasons, we've had 17 seasons of 10 wins or more (of course, we didn't start playing 10 games regularly until 1941). We have exactly 3 perfect seasons, with 2 of them coming post 1940. Um, our "standards" don't exactly set a high bar.

Alabama has 802 wins in their history.

UGA has about 737 or 738 I think depending on whose history you choose to believe.

I believe the length of time is the same for both. 117 years. That averages out to
Alabama winning about half a game a year more than UGA

802 wins divided by 117 seasons = 6.8 wins a season.

Just looked at USC - In 122 years they have 762 wins.. that's right about 6.3 per year.

Just looked at Michigan - In 131 years they have 886 wins.. that's 6.7 per year.

Y'all can keep saying we don't have a high standard all you want, but I would say the numbers
say we have had a top 10 or so program for a very long period of time.

UGA is #11 in all time wins. Of course there are high standards. And there should be.
