At one point in time, bama had to grow into that pedigree.
We actually have advantages over Alabama.
1. More $$$ overall flowing through.
2. More talent in high school here than in Bama.
3. The airport in Atlanta.
4. The ATL TV market.
5. No other SEC team in our own state competing with us like they have in Alabama.
Look at Bama under Shula and the others before Saban--they stunk. now, IF Bama had stuck with bad coaches, there wouldn't be anyone under 30 alive who remembers the Bama Glory Years. Where would they be??????
A kid who is 15 and being recruited by bama knows the saban success there---not the Bear's success.
bring in a coach who can keep 7 of the top 10 state players in high school at home for four staright years, sign 5 OLmen per year over that time frame, with 1 of them being a 5 star, 2 of them being 4 stars, and in four years WE will own the SEC.
This isn't UT, where you HAVE to leaqve the state to get players to compete; within a 3 hour radius of UGA, there is enough talent to win 9-10 games a year MINIMUM.

What I'm really tired off are fans that act like every day is January 2nd 1981 or whatever day after we won what might be the only National Championship in most of our lifetimes.
southernlover, maybe I did misinterpret the meaning of your post, maybe---but if you could just explain how this statement ties into your explanation. Not being an @$$, just really don't understand how this isn't a dig at fans who expect to compete for championships every year.

This isn't like we're talking about a Bama program with 13 National Championships.

wlayton, I may have mis-read or mis-interpreted what he was saying, but none of his statement sounds to me like he is expectant of great things, especially these two sentences. I'm also not sure how "who's standards are we talking about here?" could indicate that they should be higher. And I just threw your name in because you were agreeing with him about the pedestal, and it sounded to me like you were saying the same thing. If I misunderstood either of your posts, it's the internet, it happens.
The comment about being tired of fans that act like every day is January 2nd 1981, if pointed at this board and its members, I would suggest that southernlover name those folks. That is an open statement pointed at a board not at an individual. You did not misunderstand in my opinion sadlerdawg.
