Et Tu Brute.....

Et Tu Brute..... was created by southernlover
The same hands that were slapping Richt on the back after his 1st 6 seasons are now more than willing to bury the knife in the same spot.

With all the negativity out there after an 0-2 start I thought I would offer a different perspective on why I think CMR will weather the storm for at least another year.

1) He's 5 days away from his first win of the season.
2) I saw some damn good looking UGA players on Saturday.
3) This team is going to get better each week.
4) Mac is simply not going to dump him after this season.
5) Do you really want to see the spread offense in Athens?

Respected forum members. You can disagree with each of these items as I don't pretend to be an expert but just think that if we had recovered a fumble or not thrown a bad pass the comments would all be different today. And I certainly don't understand why in recent years we always loose the most exciting games. LSU '09, Auburn '05, etc.

Our last great season '07, we beat ourselves against SC, got stomped at UT, would have lost to Vandy had they not fumbled on their own goal line but still rattled off the final 7 to finish 2nd in the country. Now I don't expect a repeat of that year but think things will get better and CMR will be around at least one more time.

Stay positive. We may get a new head coach but it doesn't necessarily mean anything will change in the W column.

A win against Coastal Carolina is hardly a milestone.

The biggest problem with Richt, for me anyways, is his refusal to change/adjust.

Bobo needs to go period.........everybody in America that stills has eyesight can see this. Richt doesn't think so.

I mean does he really think this no huddle crap is getting us extra plays? They still are not hiking the ball until less than 5 seconds on the play clock. If we wanted extra plays why did they let the time clock run out at the end of the (3rd?) quarter and not go ahead and run another play.

I don't care if we run the spread, the wishbone or whatever ! Protect the ball, eat up some clock so the defense isn't on the field all day, and score points.

DC change should have been changed years before it was- and by that time we end up with what? our fifth choice? Jury is still out on that hire.

My argument has been pretty consistent either Richt changes or UGA changes coaches. He is the one that says he ain't changing. Gonna stay the course, keep on keeping on blah blah. The game changes and coaches must evolve with it.

Some are wise and some are otherwise !

We've changed players over the past 3-5 years, but the results stay the same...

At some moment, someone will do something stupid and make a bad play that
costs us the ball game.

We go for surprises and don't execute... the other team goes for a surprise
which we should be ready for, but are not... and executes all the way for a
TD. We lose.

Richt quit producing wins. Produce or get fired. It is that simple. If I were a GA tax payer I would be freaking out over the crappy ROI on Richts salary. Fulton County uses money more efficiently I bet.

Good post Southernlover!

I was at the game on Sat. & I honestly couldn't pin this loss TOTALLY on our coaches. Bobo called a much better game that he did against Boise (I know, nowhere to go but up after that debacle) but still, I'm afraid CMB is WAAAAAAY past the point of no return with the vast majority of our fan base, myself included. That said, the fake punt was a killer & you'd THINK good coaching would prevent that (I just dunno?). As for giving the other team the ball & watching em walk into the endzone (fumbles & INTs) that's clearly on the players.

You know, I went into this game expecting a bunch of boos & a blowout loss but was pleasantly suprised & very, very proud of the Red & Black for FIGHTING hard to comeback each time SC (or our own team) tried to deliver the knockout punch! Glad the fans kept cheering throughout the game as well & the boo birds didn't dominate the Athens sky.

Exciting game from start to finish. Got my money's worth no doubt but I left the stadium feeling like we let one get away...also left the stadium realizing that Boise is MUCH better than most folks think & that USC is by no means a top 10 team. Folks, we were the better team & I do take pride in knowing that USC brought their most talented team ever into Athens against a downtrodden & depleted group of young pups & even ol Darth Visor himself admitted that they didn't deserve to win.

By no means am I sitting here celebrating a "moral" victory but I did take SOME positives out of this loss as opposed to last week when EVERYTHING looked bleak & incorrectable. Pretty simple to me, if the team continues to improve & makes it to Jax. with only these same 2 losses we have today, the WLOCP will literally decide CMR's fate. If we drop a game or two before then, I will chime in w/my 2 cents on who AD GooseDawg would hire to be our beloved Bulldogs next head football coach.

GO DAWGS-KEEP FIGHTING!
