Good post Southernlover!
I was at the game on Sat. & I honestly couldn't pin this loss TOTALLY on our coaches. Bobo called a much better game that he did against Boise (I know, nowhere to go but up after that debacle) but still, I'm afraid CMB is WAAAAAAY past the point of no return with the vast majority of our fan base, myself included. That said, the fake punt was a killer & you'd THINK good coaching would prevent that (I just dunno?). As for giving the other team the ball & watching em walk into the endzone (fumbles & INTs) that's clearly on the players.
You know, I went into this game expecting a bunch of boos & a blowout loss but was pleasantly suprised & very, very proud of the Red & Black for FIGHTING hard to comeback each time SC (or our own team) tried to deliver the knockout punch! Glad the fans kept cheering throughout the game as well & the boo birds didn't dominate the Athens sky.
Exciting game from start to finish. Got my money's worth no doubt but I left the stadium feeling like we let one get away...also left the stadium realizing that Boise is MUCH better than most folks think & that USC is by no means a top 10 team. Folks, we were the better team & I do take pride in knowing that USC brought their most talented team ever into Athens against a downtrodden & depleted group of young pups & even ol Darth Visor himself admitted that they didn't deserve to win.
By no means am I sitting here celebrating a "moral" victory but I did take SOME positives out of this loss as opposed to last week when EVERYTHING looked bleak & incorrectable. Pretty simple to me, if the team continues to improve & makes it to Jax. with only these same 2 losses we have today, the WLOCP will literally decide CMR's fate. If we drop a game or two before then, I will chime in w/my 2 cents on who AD GooseDawg would hire to be our beloved Bulldogs next head football coach.
GO DAWGS-KEEP FIGHTING!
