The hiring of Jamie Newman has spurred a lot of talk on many boards. Provides the media with a sure fire topic to generate interest.
Going over Newman's stats . . . . had 11 interceptions. That does not bother me a lot for this reason . . . . Newman found himself and teammates playing from behind in many 2019 games. Playing catch up, not a good thought, usually not a good ending. In the video below Clemson Defensive Coordinator Brent Venables forced Newman to play from the pocket. Suicide in my book. I still remember Aaron Murray in the Auburn/Alabama games getting blasted. Jamie Newman has the size and strength to hold up under some hits, still not welcomed. Our defense should be pretty darn good in 2020, that will be a huge asset to Newman, not one he is use to as a matter of fact. Have to believe that Jamie Newman is going to relish passing to what should be a very good receiving corps.
