....And so begins the off-season spin....

My 3 cents: I don't think Baylor/TCU had a case to be made. They didn't even have aconference championship game to have to get up for. I hate FSU, but they had the added pressure of having to risk everything to get up and go play Tech. Same with oregon. Same with Bama. Same with Urban Cryer.

If I have to choose between 2 teams, I will always take the team that had to put it out on the field "one more time".

8 team playoff will make all sides happy.

1. The 5 champs from the Big 5 get in. So the Power 5 are happy.
2. 3 at large teams. This could make the lesser programs happy because that magical season (Boise State type team could get in)
3. You will still have a couple slots left for power 5 teams who may have played a very tough schedule but slipped up one time.

On the down side, if they take the top 8, we know UGA will finish 9th:);)

Whether it remains four for x amount of years, or move on to eight quickly. This will change college football like never before.

Example . . . . How does a supposed better than average college team not get into the final eight, not the final four, final eight?

We think we have seen money spent, just a pittance of what is going to happen. Michigan opened up with a chunk for Harbaugh. What does that mean for Ohio State and urban?

Does Nick Saban get a major raise?

Auburn hired Muschamp in for over 1 million. Pruitt raised over the million mark. Richt, well we will know when Scrooge gets "around to it".
Final Eight brings in money that Mark Emmert cannot begin to watch over. He has proven that without a Final Four.

Conversation on this board a couple of years back that we were going to see huge changes in the way college football is financed and what the reactions would be.

Now we will see Mark Emmert's NCAA, he thinks it is one of his possessions, relaxing every rule outside of armed robbery to keep his million dollar NCAA job.

Shifting from four teams to a final eight will get the attention of the NFL, moves college football further into their season. Final four already has the NFL "peeking".

Steve said it well in post #4 in this thread.

Richt will probably get a substantial raise, even though the 10th win was laid out on the offensive side by Mike Bobo before moving on.

Anyone that thinks that Richt will allow any offensive coordinator hire to set up in Athens that does not run at least 95% of what Georgia has ran for all of his years as head coach and many plays that were ran before he arrived, just dreaming. The offensive side of the ball is the "last stronghold" that Richt has over the football team . . . . speaking to coaching, not the Group stuff above him.

We can agree to disagree.. no problem.

This notion however that we have definitive champion just isn't true.

Laugh as some might, but TCU deserved to be in that playoff scenario. So did Baylor (despite their bowl loss). TCU CRUSHED an SEC program ranked in the top 10.

They lost to one team this year... an offensive nightmare called Baylor which was a much more quality opponent than OSU losing to Va Tech. So again... as far as determining a true champion?
My answer is it didn't.

Top 4 teams only just isn't enough to call it determining a true champion for the first time.

Many want to say there is no case for TCU or Baylor.... even after seeing TCU do what they did to Ole Miss. I disagree.. I can't penalize TCU because of their conference.

The only scenario I see working to achieve what I think can be called a truly legit champion is to have all the conference champions in it.

If an 11-1 Big 5 conference champion that averaged 47 points a game, an average margin of victory of 4 TD's and one that slaughtered a 9th ranked SEC club doesn't deserve the playoffs, then this whole thing is questionable.

TruDis!!!....Bobo was little more than a CMR puppet and our future OC will either follow or be "managed" to follow a similar path. It will be truly interesting to see if Bobo's style changes now that he no longer has "Daddy" watching over him!?!?!...

Following this thread, beats what I see elsewhere. Truth.

Wartdawg posted . . . .

Leads me to say that the Carolina Panthers are proving that things change in a season. NFL South Champs.

Kicked Atlanta, Bucs always easy prey for the Panthers in recent years, problems in New Orleans. Arizona won a lot of football games, realize that they lost their quarterback, that is football.

NC_Dawg, was just repeating what you have said more than once on this board. Some times it just "feels good" to repeat the "truth".
