First and foremost....Welcome Reservoir Dawg!! Good ppl on this forum, great content, factual adult conversations! Glad to have you on board.
I'm probably the worst offender for railing against the use of ones religious convictions as a means to an end. I coined the phrase "Captain Christian" more so to describe CMR apologists doe-eyed, fact-less, oblivion filled following, than to criticize CMR. FTR: BulldogShannon, I don't believe you to be one of those I described above. I think you inadvertently used a topic that many, herein, adamantly oppose.
Nonetheless, I'm thankful that CMR is devout and practices same when dealing with young, often troubled adolescents. However, like many herein, I find no useful correlation between ones faith and their ability, or lack there of, to do their job. They are, or IMVHO, mutually exclusive!
I'm a Christian and have no problem, whatsoever, discussing religious matters of relevance. However, I don't use my convictions as a shield and sword. It is for similar reasons that I can no longer support a certain political party that has aligned itself in such a manner as to bastardize "the word".
This being said, I agree with ReservoirDawg! It's loyalty! Loyalty got JTIII, Ginger and Mason the start. Similarly, I believe DJ got his year based solely on loyalty, as he WAS NOT the type of QB CMR recruits. Yes, DJ was a DGD and talented out the wahzoo! However, CMR's game plan changed very little when DJ was under center. CMR stuck to pro-style and didn't adapt our O based on DJ's "threat" to run. Heck, even Stafford AND Murray were geared down from their HS days regarding breaking the pocket and running.
As for the argument over job security, I honestly believe this is the least of CMR's concerns. I've said it before and I'll say it again, CMR has absolutely NO NEED to venture to the furthermost regions of this blue marble for "mission work"...his missionary IS in Athens! He even admitted as much when he stated that there was much more than "winning football games" involved!
Oddly enough, the two emerging images of CMR are largely the creation of his detractors and supporters. They are, in fact, polar opposites, with CMR landing somewhere in the middle. The good Captain really isn't as bad, or as good as we, the fans, have made him out to be! The reality is, he's just OK,....average, kind of like that piece of stock you bought many years ago. Nothing fancy, rarely posts major gains, or losses,...just steady.....and steady is good for Mahogany Row!
Dawg Nation, this is our tale going forward. It's been our tale since BEFORE the anointed one. We are not now, never really been, nor we will ever be the crisp, flashy lines of an F-Type Jaguar,....we are the less flashy, often dependable Corolla. This ride will get us from point A, to point B, and sometimes it may actually get there before the Jag,....even if it requires a reverse gear!
GO DAWGS!!!!!
