"The secret of managing is to keep the guys who hate you away from the guys who are undecided."-Casey Stengel

It's a "what have you done for me lately" and "did we play up to our potential" business.

1000% agree that a lot right has to happen for a program to get to the level that Georgia is. The frustration comes from a) doing really basic things wrong, pooch kicks, clock management, etc. and b) the same things happening over and over.

And not getting fired up for huge games with your rival. That too.

I heard Schottenheimer is the OC.

I took psychology classes and am aware that we focus on the negative and all that...

I also know something else... Saban and several other coaches who also make bad decisions
from time to time have been right enough to win titles and championships.

15 years.. superlative talent, no NC

2005 was the last SEC title.

Let me also ask this:

What had a higher probability of going way bad... Saban's field goal attempt which took a 100+ yard return to go south, or Richt's pooch kick?

I don't really have the odds, but I can't help but imagine the odds of Auburn returning the ball 100+ yards for a TD were CONSIDERABLY less than the odds Tech could win after that glaringly ignorant pooch kick.

Funny, probably the same odds. According to an ESPN computer the UGA scenario, a 3 point lead, kicking off with 18 seconds to go wins 99.98% of the time, so not much % on the loss side just like the 109 yard return.

We're actually on the same page about CMR.....but none of us really knows, we may think we do, but unless we actually are in those coaches shoes day to day, we probably only touch on 10-15% of truth.

Just like in my business, clients may think they know the markets etc etc.....they have NO clue....even saavy business people have NO clue. That's why our industry polls their sentiments on the markets and we do the opposite.

It's not the same odds. Maybe you misunderstood what I said.

He pooched kicked.

The odds of Tech being able to move 20 yards and make a field goal with 40 seconds was significantly higher than the odds of Auburn taking a missed FG return 100+ yards. Had he kicked off it was a 99.98% chance we win. He didn't do that though.

There is no comparison as to which one was the worse decision... 20 yards and a makeable field goal in 43 seconds is a helluva a lot easier to accomplish than a 100+ yard missed FG return for a TD.

and Richt makes those mistakes a lot more often than Saban.

I was simply pointing out a coaching making a mistake...NOT comparing against any other scenario.

Again....we are on the same page about CMR....

My point was the 2nd and 3rd paragraphs.

If you have to win, ok, you win.

On this one...

Mark Richt makes bigger mistakes and does it more often than Saban (and a lot of other guys)..

yep.. I absolutely have to win on that one.
