Well, here we are again! At the edge of another post season, comfortably perched upon couch or lazyboy, watching other teams battle for the NC. Much to be gleaned from this season, outside the mired mediocrity from Butts Mehre, which I'm certain will be amply debated over the course of the next 9 months. Thus far, the loss of Bobo and Friend doesn't appear to be effecting the 2015 recruiting class. Yes, there has been a defection or two, but there always is a defection or two. Time will tell; as will whomever we secure for the OC, if the long term loss of Bobo/Friend effects future recruiting...
Here are a few take-away's that I didn't see coming.....
#1 - The rise and embarrassing FAIL of the SECW! Parity between conferences aside, the SECW has now suffered the Media/ESPN scorn that has long since been a seasonal staple for the SECE, particularly UGA.
Footnote: Many of the bobbleheads are now reporting on said failure and have even begun mentioning the SECE's post-season record! Likewise, many of those are also predicting the rise of SECE programs to future predicted dominance...UT and UF are among the favorites....and absent from the conversation,....Guess Who???.....Wonder why?
#2 - Ohio State !...This is NOT the OSU of the past, and as much as it pains me to say, The Urban Cryer has the program pointed in the right direction. They likely will not win the NC this year, but they will be in the mix for seasons to come.
#3 - Play-Off System - While I'm a fan, I honestly believed this years version would be similar to the BCS...I was wrong! The BCS would likely have pitted BAMA against FSU, with OSU completely out of the picture. IMVHO, I believe the Play-Offs are a success, but would rather see them extended to 8 teams, rather than 4.
All in all, we landed fairly close to where many predicted we'd land. The post-season collapse of the SECW will likely place us somewhat higher in the rankings than we should be, and I'm already hearing that we will be a preseason top 10! In the interim, we will land another successful class of recruits, the apologists will point to all the "accomplishments" made, Captain Christian will once again man the helm of the SS Mediocre come fall, with a quiver filled with golden excuses for the doe-eyed, while firmly clutching a shiny new contract extension! We will be treated to another 8-4, 9-3 season, with glimmers of hope and probable bedwetting to follow....
It's the GEORGIA WAY....or as I like to refer to it,.....RICHTING!!!
GO DAWGS!!!
