If Kirby comes to Athens, he is coming as Head Coach. The only if is our present head coach remaining for one more year. That in my opinion would be a plus for not only Kirby Smart, but for the program as a whole. Like richt or not, there is more to being head coach than running on the football field with the team. Some "guidance" from richt to Smart would be a good thing. It would make the transition easier for those that are followers of mark richt.
Example: Not quite the same, but Jimbo Fisher replacing Bobby Bowden. Said more than once on this board that richt has followed the path of Bowden, this is the final step. The best way for mark richt to leave UGA as head coach. Smart will be the head coach, will not be called head coach in waiting, will be a year of using the word again . . . . transition.
