Pure speculation on my part, scary.
Saban is in the process of a complete shake up/down of his staff.
He doesn't take two losses in a row lightly and maybe shaking things up keeps his edge.
Maybe Kirby is ready to step out and completely control his side of the ball at a place where he should eventually be head coach.
Assuming the bucks are there.
Saban and Smart are alike in that they relish a challenge.
It's not like we don't have the pieces. We just need somebody to put 'em together.
