Haven't heard anything either, just abunch of rumors. According to some people I'm following on twitter Georgia's primary target is the FSU DC, but smart has been made an offer as well. Don't really buy to much into what goes on in twitter, sometimes people post stuff just to get noticed.


Seems strange nothing has really been confirmed yet, media is all over these types of things regardless of how tight lipped people want to keep it.

Richt has been a better recruiter but Gardner may be the cause of that. But he has done only marginally better than Donnan with a roster full of NFL players.

In your head play the names of former UGA players who are now stars at the next level since the 2005 SEC title.

Of course this is not the complete list, but these guys are contributing and in many case pro bowl players now that they have adequate coaching.

Wlayton, I saw that earlier about having to have the job posted for 5 days because all employees must go through a background check, etc. However, that does not exclude the university from unofficially naming the coach. It also doesn't prevent the media from reporting visually seeing any candidates on campus. I think they are calling to gauge interest, and I believe YD1 said it perfectly. Maybe no one wants to be a part of this staff under the current leadership. Appears to be that way to me.

Have no doubt we are willing to spend some money, just don't think we will have the chance to spend the money. To many reporters out there looking to be first if we had actually brought in someone to interview. Especially if it was a big name.

Kirby did come out a few days back and say how much he and the family enjoyed Tuscaloosa. Don't doubt that, but remarks like that are often made just before pulling up roots and moving.

Have to say this, as it has been said to me.

Kirby Smart was a bit upset with the actions of some in the Iron Bowl. Not players.

Come on home Kirby, it was also said to me that what happened in the Iron Bowl has left a nasty taste in his mouth. Come on home Kirby, we can get after Gus and his boys between the Hedges.

No major universities are looking for a head coach at this point. Behind the scenes there appears to be one that is willing to change positions.

Agree that the media will have the bloodhounds out and will jump on anything they see and would report it immediately but imo, I don't see UGA ever making an "unofficial" naming of a coach. With possibly several names in the process, it makes sense to me that they will wait until they can "officially" make the announcement.....you don't tick candidates off or burn bridges....but what do I know, I'm not in the arena.

Agree.

It's why I think we ultimately promote from within for this job unless much more is afoot than we know now.
