Buc I have always like the four man front, especially in this run first league.

wlayton, sometimes we can take putty and shape it the way we want it. Sometimes as you and I know, it does not always turn out the way we want.

Brother, I believe that grantham has not yet figured out the "putty" formula. Too far in at this point for him to pull back. If he went to a "true" four man front, that would be dropping his ego, and I truly believe he is not going to do that, not capable of that.

At some point soon, he will tell us that he runs a four man front. I see that, but the one problem with his four man front is he is disguising the three man front . . . . he thinks. He is not above high school level defensive coaching. By that I mean this . . . . he has learned a "few tricks", but I see some of the same "tricks" by high school coaches on Friday nights.

McGarity and our head coach bought it, I did at one time, but after watching his defense, can see the same on the high school level, and performed at a higher level.

I believe that he has allowed himself to be trapped by . . . . himself. Does that make sense wlayton?

I also prefer the 4 man front. The 3-4 can be effective, but not the way grantham is doing it. I've played in both, and in our 3-4, it was never 4 guys with hands in the dirt, it was either 3 or 5. Seemed to work well for the most part. Put the 2 lb's on the ends when certain plays were obvious to be run.

The SMART era CONTINUES!!!!!!

Makes sense Buc, it seems from various comments that most of us on this board that post regularly have been in management of some type in civilian life. We all know you got to adjust to your personnel and the marketplace or you will be passed by.

No shame in adapting.

Some are wise and some are otherwise !

Sooner or later, regardless, it works when you adapt. grantham, does not understand "adapt" either. Me thinks.

sadlerdawg, you described grantham's front perfectly. Auburn was doing some of this against us this season. Ended up getting burned in their variation of the 3/4 with the adjustments that were made just prior to halftime and after halftime.

Read this piece this morning, and thought it would work here. I have been high on Parrish coming to Athens. In my mind that "nasty" word we used when discussing offensive linemen pertains to this young man. Can't do the job if you don't have faith in yourself. Confidence not lacking with Parrish.

By the way . . . . look who is responsible for Parrish coming to play "defense" for us. Did not expect to see grantham's name mentioned. Sorry, just the truth, again.
