Again you said it in fewer words than I did averagedawg.

Coaching Mess . . . .

True dat.

AllDawgs5 said . . . .GO DAWGS - I could kick myself 100 times for backing CMR. Only reason for keeping CTG is to take attention off himself when the water starts boiling.

AD5, still trying to remove some of the leather from my backside.

Ogre, I am not sure what you mean by a vanilla offense. I am not sure what you want. I just can't call a coach vanilla for turning and handing the ball to Gurley. That's football, Get the ball to your best players. No coach in the history of football is going to run a triple reverse pass up 2 TD's. No, they grind it out and try to wear the opponent down. Malzahn did it, Saban does it. Really watch others play. I guess everyone is Vanilla.

I always laughed when I saw the Vanilla comment. We have backs like Gurley and Marshall, and we critize Bobo for handing them the football with a lead. Guess I will always scratch my head over than complaint. Some comments really catch me off-guard.

My point is I could careless about offensive opinions. There was a time when we had a defense where 20 points would almost win us all games. I remember watching the lsu-bama game 2 years ago. Believe it was 9-6 final in overtime. Anyone think our D could ever do something like that? Hold bama to 6pts or lsu to 9? We will never hold elite teams under 20pts with the system right now. You have to have games where the D plays lights out. Quite a few games. We did not have one this year. Not one single game was the D lights out for 4 quarters.

Focus on offense and Bobo all you want, won't matter until we have a defense.

Buc, again... no knock on the post I'm getting ready to quote. You're dead on correct, but I can't help myself from
being a smart alec towards our coaching staff.

They have a leader, and it is evident who that is.... Jimbo Fisher. Wish we had one of those, lol

Didn't carry the statement far enough . . . . FSU had two (2) leaders. One with a game plan and another that carried the plan out. Some call it communication. Sorry, sometimes, many time I come up short.

When AM was here we had a leader. nuff said.

Enjoy the banter. . . . :)

Great post AD5, couldn't agree with you more.

OC's main objective is to get the ball to their best playmakers. Nobody seems to complain if TG breaks a "vanilla" play for 75 yards.

Uh, didn't some guy named Herschel run a bunch of vanilla plays?

Wlayton, there are many that view that as predictable. Well just about all offenses are predictable. I watched he Auburn game and could tell you 95 percent of the time what play they were going to run. Just like Saban stated before the game. They only run 6 running plays. With college football the way it is today, going to be very hard to catch teams off guard. They have every game film from the last however many years they want to go back. Seen a lot of teams try to be something they aren't just to catch a team off guard, when they would have been better off running what they do best.

It will always be a complaint by many, but that is just part of it. I am an old-schooler when it comes to football. Would take a great defense over a great offense any day of the week. Never seen a team with a subpar defense when a NC. Just my thoughts.

Look how many years LSU was in the hunt for a NC under Miles and Saban. The offenses on those teams were average at the very best. Yet they were in contention every year. Why?? Because they could hang their hat on the defensive side of the ball. They went into games knowing that no matter how bad the offense played, they would still have a chance. We are nowhere close to there. Reason why? Football has changed. Everyone wants to see points, flash, exciting offense. Those are great, but look NC winners. What won them the game? What won them most of their games? Dominant defensive play.

The saddest part about it is: we have as much talent on the defensive side as anybody. We have a coordinator in love with himself, and a HC that just doesn't get that side of the ball amped up. Never going to work unless something changes drastically.
