Questionable Thoughts About 2013, and Beyond

10 years 10 months ago - 10 years 10 months ago #57270 by Buc
Don't see much going on as far as UGA football talk, so thought I would post the following, pulled from another site.

After reading the entire article and the comments to same, came away with my answer to the question asked. Still too much beating around the bush to suit me at this point, talking about the article.

We can cut it, slice it, dice it, and when I look at what was said in the article and others that I am reading since the 8-5 season, for me, comes down to one word. That is where I am at, think it answers the question without a lot of, what if? . . . .

If there are any comments to the article, will post my answer after reading what others have to say. Have a suspicion that what I think will be posted more than once.

Good Read Buc,

I don't believe you have posted this link, it reflects a lot of what we have been saying here.

I agree about the Gravy train in Athens, also the lack of signing a full class in 2012 coupled with underuse of players. At the very least 2012 offered a chance for UGA to use players destined for play in 2013 and for whatever reason the ones in charge(notice I did'nt say coaches)neglected to do so. I believe we are saddled with lazy, inept men in charge for the most part, from the top down. I swear I thought I caught richt sleeping in the Tennessee game. I realize most of these things were in the links you guys posted, seems like most see the same things. We need to start an email campaign to our illustrous, supposed leaders, and give em down the country about our University to ask the important questions about what they propose to do about it and how soon we can expect positive results.

The sun shines on a different Dawg every day

36869, had not read the article.

One thing that came to my mind that you have said over and over, even though you don't post that much . . . . tackling, over and over you have mentioned that.

Getting to the point that I cringe 36869 when every post outside of this board either begins or somewhere in the post we get the "I love richt thingy". Has been said enough. We are talking football, not relationships. Love your wife, girlfriend, family, friend or pet not the head football coach. Supposedly he was hired to coach football, not relationships. Dear Abby was in the print columns for years if you want to talk "relationships".

I am fast becoming a believer that we are as sadlerdawg said, without using his actual words . . . . "creatures of habit".

Said this sometime back (on this board).

My cousin who is now married to a career Air Force officer, baby sat for the richt family when she attended the University of Georgia. Said richt is a great guy and the family is wonderful. That however does not make him something that he is not, a head football coach that will lead UGA to the final four. Won't happen, even with the talent that is in Athens now, and more to come soon.

I realize that there are those that don't like to hear this "stuff" over and over. There is one way to put an end to that, but it is a lot like opening the safe if you don't have the combination . . . . richt and company do not have the combination. JMO.

Thanks for coming up 36869, you are one of those that needs to be more vocal. Not a loud mouth like me, but I am not going to put this board on my back through the off season if there are no contributors. I look at the posts when I open this site up, most of the time I see Buc by every thread. Not right.

One of the folks that I have great respect for has been away for a while. thriller and I have gone back and forth over a period of time. He needs to get his ass back on board, whether we agree or not.

Folks don't get slapped down on this board because of a single opinion, that usually happens when a "newbie" shows up and tries to impress the board with the links they can copy and paste. We do copy and paste here, but that is earned because subject matter only makes us better. Comes a time though when posters have to give some "personal" insight, not "link" insight.

Long again, some things never change . . . . Will come a day when others need to step up. Wartdawg has, and doing a great job in my opinion. Does not pull punches, and just for the record, none of us want to arm wrestle his Dad.

Buc. We could ask for the top five reasons for our decline over the past 8 seasons since our last SEC Championship

Four of the five may differ But without question the number one reason for our lack of

remaining at the top of the conference is our HC. IMO his inability to recognize change in

The college game that requires him to change for the betterment of our program

Same strong head that keeps him from demanding more from his assistant cosches and hiring a

ST coach. Hell this is the way we do it here. Correct might just be the reason there has

Been so many examples of failure HC is the face of our program. One that has two black eyes

And a fat lip. Oh did I say a face full of sand thanks to Vandy. Sad and Sorry

Anyone else would have fired all the defense coaches except CCW who I would have named as the new DC and held a press conference stating there is a new sheriff in town

Be ready to leave if you can't get the job done. Players or coaches

Won't happen but makes for a nice dream. Go Dawgs

Go Dawgs!

Not just thank you . . . . thank you very much yd1.

Seems to me that the time has come to either agree or disagree.

If one agrees with the results in Athens for some time now, that is ok. Don't bark at me if I have a different opinion.

There have been several that were on this board that barked about the total program, meaning players that were playing their butts off. One in particular that I remember was on AM's butt from the time he arrived on campus. Same person wanted Hutson Mason, well Hutson is the quarterback in Athens now. One simple fact . . . . Mason could not beat AM for the starting position. Don't take this wrong, Hutson stuck around for what? Time is here.

Bothers me that I not only believe, I know that this group of offensive coaches will reward time in service. That does not move this program forward. Truly, I do not believe our head coach understands that he needs to get his head in another place and let the talent play what ever position is available. Whether you agree or disagree with successful coaches in every conference, time in service belongs to the Federal Government, not college football. We have been through that without calling a particular name or names, for the most part.

Our head coach has his staff doing the work on the recruiting trail. He steps in when the "work" is done. Bobby Bowden did that, our head coach following the same script.

Wanted to say sorry folks, cannot. What ever is going on in Athens right now belongs to those that are responsible for the roller coaster product they present, year after year. Not true . . . . show me the championship stripes.

If anyone on this board believes that our current head coach should remain, don't be silent. Post your feelings and reasons for him to remain.

Getting tired folks, comes a time when others that post during football season need to step up or, face the fact that you are a second stringer. Our head coach got away with that his entire football (career?). Now he is getting away with it in Athens. Say the same thing to our head football coach that I would say to the President of the United States . . . . you want my money and time, give me one reason why . . . .

Remember this my Brothers, said I was going to call a spade a spade. Doing that. Where are you? :)
