Questionable Thoughts About 2013, and Beyond

AllDawgs5 wrote: Wart, also agree on the last sentence. For CMR to watch those defenses last night, and think his defense remotely plays with the same passion. Instead, he is bringing CTG back. My guess is he knows the heat isn't all the way turned up on his job. Guessing he is waiting until the heat is all the way up to get rid of CTG to take the pressure off of himself. To bad Mac and other cant see that.

Post above is probably as close as any of us could get to what is really happening in Athens. My opinion anyway. Absolute agreement.

One thing that did catch my attention last night. Noticed that Auburn's defensive line after the first half did not do a lot of substituting. Brought back thoughts of Garner in Athens. Guess it is like our DNA, can't change whatever it is that is ingrained.

Also noticed that FSU picked up on what AM/Bobo did in the second half of the Auburn game. Short slants and outs. Get the ball out of the quarterbacks hand. Wears a defensive line out. They are still coming hard, using the same energy, just don't get to the target in time.

Going to miss AM folks. Not like he did not have talent. Talent comes in a variety of ways . . . . AM is mental, many times that is better than having a bazooka for an arm. But, anyone that wants to tell me that AM does not have the physical abilities along with an above average arm, I say we are definitely on different pages.

Do I think that Hutson Mason will take us to the final four? No. Do I think that there is a better quarterback in Athens right now? Yes.

Dyshon Sims will take one of the offensive line positions in 2014. Hold me to that. He has the same makeup that Kublanow has. A needed "nastiness" in Athens. Just need our head coach to stay away from their preparation, Coach Will Friend will allow the nasty, and wants nasty.

As far as the defense, as long as I don't have to look at or hear grantham, my football days are much better.

Bobo is not all that. With Mason at the helm look for our stats to go down from last year. AM ran this offense not Bobo. As Buc would say hold me to that.......

AllDawgs5 wrote: Can see that wart. Going to make a statement, and hope it doesn't come off the wrong way. We do have offensive talent, but a lot of it was hurt for most of the season. AM is the best UGA qb I have seen. Most talented. No. Believe before injury he was a 3rd rounder at best. Hearing now that he may not even hear his name called in the NFL draft. Gurley, first rounder. Don't see Bennett, Mitchell, or JSW as draftable at this point in their career.

Again, not saying those guys aren't talented, but sometimes it seems all we want to give credit for their success is the talent. We have 1 for sure 1st rounder according to scouts, which judge talent for a living.

That's fair, but I would note this...

Talent in college doesn't automatically transfer to the NFL, now does it Mr. Tebow? So I'm not sure we can say that it has to translate to
NFL draft picks. Still.. valid comment and as noted, I'm not saying it's all 100% talent and Bobo sucks. I do feel as stated that I think
we go into an offensive doldrums too often. Don't care about stats... you can rack up stats all day long and then blow it on 3 crucial drives at the end of the game. The stats would still look great but not reflect you called 2 straight dives when the other team hasn't stopped your passing game all day long and left yourself in 3rd and long on a crucial drive.

Once again though... We as a team have issues, obviously, and I think we need a new HC to sort it all out. If a new HC wanted to retain Bobo then I wouldn't complain. Our issues this season and our continuing issues are more obvious and more pressing in areas other than the offense. For me it's a regime thing and Bobo is part of the regime. It's past time to let a new CEO try to figure it out. If he wanted Bobo in his staff, I wouldn't object. Just tired of playing this game of trying to figure it out... 'tis not our job to do that. It's Mark Richt's job to do it and he's not getting it done.

That is undeniable.

Here comes some of the "fluff" that we have discussed on this board. Media hype. One paragraph in the article proved a point that has also been raised on this board.

McGarity trying his best to sound like President Harry Truman . . . . "Buck Stops Here". Truman lived by his words, Greg McGarity. Impressed with you . . . . why should I be? Your responsibility is to do as you are told to do by the "Group". If you are that powerful, face the head coaching and defensive coordinator situations. Can't do that, head coach will leave when he is ready to leave, Mr. McGarity. FACT.

“If I sit here and say, yeah, I’d be willing to go through a two-win season in order to win a national championship the next year, we’re in the if only world,” Georgia athletic director Greg McGarity said back in December. “We’re speculating here. Our charge has always been to show improvement every year. That is determined at the end of the day by me. That’s my responsibility. It lands at this desk.”

I have no doubt that the QB competition will be similar to a government contract.
Richt will reward seniority over talent.
Our OL this year performed adequately at times but often when we really needed them to step up they failed miserably.
To me that is the true test of greatness, not necessarily stats.
We are lost on defense, cannot see any improvements on the horizon as long as Mark Richt is head coach.
Any competent head coach's first act is show Todd the door.

Will either QB in this sentence be able to make UGA the 2014 SEC champ and get us in the payoff as long as MR is coach? My magic 8-ball says ALL SIGNS POINT TO NO.

You may be 100% right Buc... FB may be the guy, but it wouldn't make a difference in my opinion as we have much bigger problems that
HM or FB can't fix. MR's inability to recognize that FB should be the guy is just another display of his shortcomings. Even if he comes around and makes FB the man.... it isn't going to get us there.

Believe me though.. no knock against your post or opinion as I certainly don't trust MR to make the right call on who should start at QB.

Dyshon Sims will probably be benched for being too nasty. "Nasty" is not "the Georgia way".
