Picked this up from a blog that I enjoy reading. Long, but if you want much of the "real story", might want to read this. Think this article speaks for many.

*******************************

Few simple comments. At the end of the day, it’s called management, and CMR is responsible.

- First of all this is not about his demeanor. The “light a fire” or “be aggressive” comments are useless to me. Everyone lauded him for being calm when it worked and vice versa. Emotion is overrated- execution is not.

- Team management means having the right number of players in each spot every year, and getting them ready to play. How many times have we seen not having experienced players at some spot every year. Remember the lack of O-Linemen (btw- that is going to happen again at tackle). Remember the lack of RBs. Remember not having enough D-Linemen. How about no DBs this year. And every time, when there is a chance to get players experience, we don’t. We used to a few years ago, but we don’t anymore. Bottom-line, it’s almost by accident if we have experienced players at most positions, not through planning. And that happens once every 3-4 years. Bama does it every year.

- Leadership: We were behind so many other colleges at basic things such as nutrition and training. I know a lot of that was due to our AD but no reason why our training was so antiquated for so many years. And instead of being a key contributor in the coaching schemes, he is dead weight (I’ll explain that below). Mark Richt is a figure head, and that shows up in behavior patterns again and again. When our D was getting gashed last year against the run, nothing was done and all we heard were excuses. That cost us the MNC in 2012. What about Blair Walsh. He was left to hang by himself and is now all-world. Where was the leadership by Richt to correct something. In response to kicking issues last year, his solution was to get educated in the next off-season and try to contribute. ARE YOU KIDDING ME. You get GAs to help, watch film and help correct it right NOW. This year, our ST were a BIG red light. It cost us the Clemscum game but since we won everything after that I wonder how much focus was put on that. Now, we are done for this year thanks to the ST.

- He is always behind the times. Sometimes it feels like he is in 1998. That applies to training methods where we were applying systems that others used 15 years ago. Only recently has it changed. And as things progress again, he’ll aain be left behind. Take Bama for example. Do you know they do extensive yoga for flexibility to reduce muscle and hammy injuries. We’ll probably try it in 2025. What about our play calling- only in 2010 did we develop some wrinkles and that was due to Bobo. Again, these are comments about process because in individual situations, CMR does do some of those things (LSU fake punt), but not consistently.

- Richt is a coaching liability because he is a figurehead like Mack Brown. When you are only allowed so many coaches, you need to be able to contribute in some way. He does not. Grantham runs the D. Bobo runs the O. No one runs the ST, and Richt just attends functions. Ever since he handed off play-calling to Bobo, Richt has gotten more and more detached from the nuts and bots of the game. If Richt would have gone on a 4 month vacation last year in 2012, our results would have been the same- that is how little he impacts the actual games.

I had the same issues with Richt in 2009 but he did not have proper support then and I also thought it was due to complacency. He came out of that period strongly that led me to believe that he’ll not make some of these mistakes again. He is NOT complacent anymore. I think he tries hard. But he never has a plan B, is always 3 years behind new methods, and is a passive reactor rather than an aggressive proactive leader.

This is the first time I am even contemplating this, but perhaps he should leave. I would not be surprised if we won out or came back strongly this year- his teams have done that before- last year against FU, or against AU in 2006 or in 2007. The point that he is good enough to execute the turnaround just shows that if he would have tried before, we would not have needed a turn around. This is not out of anger or spite. And it will set us back for some time, but we’ll never reach our goal of an MNC under him, and 30+ years is a long time for UGA. We’ll be a very good team 20% of the time, a good team 30% of the time, an average team 30% of the time, and a bad team 20% of the time. we’ll be a GREAT team 0% of the time under him.

Again, this is not due to anger about today. Most of things I mentioned did not directly apply to today (except ST). All things equal, I’d rather have him as the coach for UGA than not, but I feel that after 13 years as the HC of UGA, he still seems to be in the learning not leading mode. If you say we are lagging due to injuries or youth, I will say we never recruited or developed players to fill in such as even Ole Miss did today. If our O-Line was what it should have been, then it would have been easier to overcome young receivers. IF we would have recruited properly, or even played guys that have been good (Sheldon Dawson, Wiggins), we would be better today. If we would have tried out a couple more snappers after our issues, we may be better off. IF we would treat ST a a third of the game where Positive difference can be made instead of passively fair-catching everything then we could be so much better.

Hope I did not offend anyone. Regardless, I will always pull for the Dawgs and our team. They need our support now, especially after the injuries. One of my best memories about UGA is seeing students waiting in the night for the team bus to arrive from Atlanta after the 2012 SEC CG to support our players. I always want to be like that, but that does not have to stop me from wanting my team to be better. I’ll support my team always, but in this case, for the long-term betterment of the players and the program, Richt likely need to leave.

1. It is time....I, too have backed CMR but after leading by 13 with 10:30 left and losing??...to Vandy???... I'm done, never been so embarassed in my 56 years of being a UGA fan.

2. The vine is ripe, better go get Kirby Smart right NOW while you can. He may keep Bobo but he would still have the final say in game planning all 3 phases of the team. Smart has been a part of winning NC's and has witnessed "how" it's done.....and believe he would jump at the chance to come home.

3. Yesterday was a disgrace to the UGA athletic program and if McGarity can't see that then get rid on him as well.

4. Very sad.....not many words are needed.

A portion of Marc Weiszer's column today. Mentions that both teams are not in the top 25. One or maybe both of these teams coaches are really going to be under fire both before and after this game.

Georgia (4-3, 3-2 SEC) and Florida (4-3, 3-2) are off this coming week before playing Nov. 2 in Jacksonville, Fla.

That sets up a meeting of unranked teams in the rivalry for just the second time since 1979 . They were both unranked in 2010.

******************

So, this is Mark Richt's second (2nd) time since 1979. Now the stats start coming out, does not look good for Richt.

Good read Buc a pretty accurate compilation of things we have all said on this board.

Some are wise and some are otherwise !

36869, don't necessarily have to buy everything, it does point to what you and some others have openly said for sometime.

Picked this piece up from the internet also. The piling on continues, don't think it will stop or be reversed this time around. Too many blogs, reputable ones all over the way things are going in Athens. Like you, will never pull against our team, but there is this matter that McGarity needs to take care of.

There really is no way to sugar coat it, the injuries have been terrible but Missouri lost their starting quarterback and won, Vanderbilt lost their starting quarterback and won. The Bulldogs offense seems to have run out of options and ideas. The defense couldn’t cover a grandmother using a walker and it’s time they put on on their big boy pampers and simplified things.

The Florida game in two weeks no longer looks to impact Alabama’s opponent in Atlanta but will go a long way in determining who shows up in Shreveport.

36869, said yesterday in the Game Thread that I would have plenty to say . . . . what's new. ;) There is more.

I had hoped against hope that somehow the changing of the guard a while back would be what was needed in Athens. Won't happen, will not be the last time that I will be disappointed in my life.

Personally think that it is a sad day when our Athletic Department will allow the repeat of past mistakes. Might be that McGarity and Richt think that this will pass. If I was a betting man, would put my money on nothing changing, and those in place just waiting for the storm to pass. Has happened more than once.

One of the biggest problems that I see right now is this . . . . Who gets released (coaches of course) and who stays. There will not be a mass exodus as has been suggested by one or two that should know better. Ain't no way.

Hate it that in my way of thinking it is us against them. I do have enough experience to know that short of resignation, we are "stuck" with the hand we were dealt. Have made up my mind that is unacceptable and will continue to say what I have to say about things going on at my University of Georgia. As I said yesterday, or the day before, age has a way of confusing issues, it does not however mean that I have to fall in line.

36869, don't know if you remember or not. After the game in Memphis, I disowned Richt, Bobo and any coach that wore the Red and Black. Knew then that we were were not being coached. I did however "slip". That will not happen to me again. There are others on this board that are "chest bumping" and once upon a time they were in the same boat.

I am a simple man, try not to blow my own horn, but this is what I hope for. I would love to see Mark Richt resign. That would make this entire process a "winner" for the University of Georgia, includes those like me that have been around UGA football since the 50's and "flipped" when I should not have done so.

McGarity, time to earn your money. Don't need to hear how many victories Mark Richt's years at the helm have produced. I now have one question . . . . What would Jeremy Foley do? You were with him at Florida for 10 years, you know that he does not have the "shrinking violet" running through his veins. JMO
