Gillette, no need to bash you. After reading your post a couple of times appears to me that we are saying the same thing.

As far as blaming the players, don't think that there has been much of that. If you are referring to Herrera or Swann or Wilson, some things have been said. As far as the young pups that have been thrown into the fire, that falls on the coaches. Goes to what 36869 said in his post, we should be reloading not rebuilding. That falls squarely on Mark Richt.

The blame that has been pointed toward the young players is a direct result of not being coached up. Seems to me it is a bit like baseball. 3-0 count on our man at the plate, bases loaded, 2 outs. Man at the plate is our best hitter, knows that the next pitch is going to be down the middle. Looks at the third base coach for instruction, the third base coach is picking his nose. Hitter "thinks" that must be the signal to swing away, not sure about the nose sign. Swings on the pitch, pops out, inning over. Truthfully, game over.

It is not the players, it is Grantham and his lack of communicating. Didn't start this year, has enough players on the defense that played for him last year. Are the players stupid, or is something wrong with Grantham picking his nose . . . . Linebackers running around like chickens with their heads cut off, both of the starting linebackers are the ones that are not understanding. If that cannot be corrected with film study and field practice, we have a problem.

Will come down to this at some point. If McGarity does his job, then Mark Richt is dismissed. If Richt is gone, rest of the staff will follow. An example of one coach leaving. Garner left for Auburn, running a 4 man front on defense. Defense under Johnson (new defensive coordinator) has players playing lights out. Was I wrong for all of the things that I put on Garner, there were a lot of approval posts. Maybe I, we were wrong, could be that Garner could not stomach Grantham. Personally think that Garner had slipped before Grantham, but Grantham being hired on as his leader, did not work out. Coaches get to face off soon.

Only true resolution to this is McGarity.

Was just thinking in situations like that late in the 4th with the game on the line would rather us to be down by a little instead of up by a little, would force bobo to be aggressive.

Nothing excuses the play calling in the vandy game. By far the worst coached game this season. One of the worst coached games I have seen actually. Special teams, play calling, just baffles me.

Would like to apologize to to a certain poster on this bored. Orgedawg I know we haven't seen eye to eye on certain things. The coaching staff being one of them. Know that I'm sorry, and you were right About this group of coaches. My eyes were opened Saturday, just like yours have been for awhile.

No apologies are needed. Everyone is entitled to speak their mind. I am just more blunt than most. There are several whom were saying this waaaaay before me. All is good.

Copied the copy below from Mark Weiszer's column. Sounds like the chatter surrounding Special Team play is hitting a nerve with Mark Rict. That is his own doing, does not need a Special Teams coach. For sure we don't have one right now, even on a part time basis. Failed to face the issue for the past two years.

Those kind of miscues—along with the high snap on the punt and giving up a fake field goal—again bring up the issue of whether Georgia should have a special teams coordinator designated for a staff member.

“Whether you have a special teams coordinator or not, you’ve got to field the punt, you’ve got to snap the ball, you’ve got to catch the snap,” Richt said. “What does that have to do with whether you’ve got a special teams coordinator or not? It’s just things we’ve got to be able to execute, the basic fundamentals of it. Those guys are very capable and I do have faith that we can get the job done. We’ve got the ability, we’ve just got to be consistent in that way.”

Richt could it be that the Special Teams players would like to feel like they are a part of the team. Excuses do not provide results. Don't really need to tell you that, something that you should know without me "coaching" you. Beginning to feel the "heat"?

Said a long time ago that Mark Richt more and more reminds me of Bobby Bowden. Both good men, both need to enjoy their lives away from coaching football. Scary how much influence Bowden had on Richt. Spiritual part, I am good with, football issues, sorry.

McGarity there are folks on this board that would like to see Mark Richt removed. Maybe you can fulfill that request. Your department. Maybe the new President of Georgia could help you in that area.

The body language of Keith Marshall after his injury in the Tn game says it all. Murrray has lost his mojo. This team has taken on the character of the head coach, his philosophy of preordained outcomes.
I have been shouting on the rooftops for years, hire Kirby Smart. I remember being mocked for saying it. Make a deal now. I doubt he would leave now, not until the end of the season.
Line him up for 2014. Pay Richt whatever it takes, give him a plaque and send him on his way.
This team has become a bad joke.

averagedawg, remember well the subject that you put forth on Kirby Smart. Also remember some of the mocking that went on, by some that have now moved in the other direction.

Might be our last chance to have a "real" shot at Kirby. With you on the job being offered now in some way. One thing for sure averagedawg, the improvement on the defensive side would improve leaps and bounds. Excellent coaches have a way of doing just that.

Kirby is a "terror" when it comes to recruiting. He could honestly make the statement . . . . Playing for National Championships while recruiting in a 5 hour area surrounding Athens. Grantham said the right things soon after his hiring. Wonder why we have slipped this far, surely not Grantham's fault.

sadlerdawg, no more positive Richt talk from me. Did want to add this little piece. Struck me as a bit peculiar at this particular time, after a loss to Vandy. All of the higher paid coaches are chirping, with the exception of Grantham, he feels he is doing a great job.

[b“I think it’s a good time for us to go back to the drawing board and improve,” offensive coordinator Mike Bobo said. “We’ve got to get better. We do have new guys in there and we’ve got to improve with those guys. That’s what we’ve got to do the next two weeks.”[/b]

Buc, know for a fact Kirby has had head coaching offers.
Know for a fact Saban has mentored him and told him to wait on the right offer.
Adams hated Saban, probably part of the reason Richt is still coach.
Kirby and his wife will always be Dawgs, bring 'em home.
