Why we lost

I was taught at a very young age as an athlete to have "short term memory"! I preach it to my atheletes in both football and baseball. My wife who has put up with me since HS reminded me of that (short term memory) this morning! So I promised her that at some point today I would put the loss behind me and I would turn my focus to SC.

I'm looking at Sat as " D Day", as in Decision Day! A lot of wise decisions have to made on both sides of the ball on every single play of the entire game Saturday! We can't have costly penalties, no delay of games, no missed blocks or tackles, no high snaps, etc.... We have to bring our A game and we have to play and coach like our job is on the line... D Day

If we go back a relatively short amount of time, there are answers or thoughts that have most of us believing that we are heading in the right direction.

Let's look at it like some have said in this thread and others.

We will never win a National Championship with the current coaching staff. Break that down. Who needs to be replaced? Start with Mark Richt. End of the season Richt is gone. New head coach comes on board. Does that mean that we will be National Championship material right away? Will all Georgia supporters approve of the new hiring? How many coaches on the current staff remain? What does that do to recruiting in a five hour radius? Just asking.

On this board and those of you that have posted in this thread. Step up, don't be shy. What coaches do you want to see dismissed beside Mark Richt? Do you have reasons for wanting others than Mark Richt to be replaced?

Damn easy to jump up on the bully pulpit and say what should have been done. What would you do, other than say replace Mark Richt?

Any more Nick Saban's out there? Do you know for sure any replacement you hire would average 10 wins or so a year in the SEC?

How I feel does not matter, but I am not ready for a Head Coaching change. I believe that Richt is trying to improve in all facets of the game. How is college football any different than other work places? Change is something that Mark Richt is trying to do at Georgia. Took him too long, I agree with that. He skated for a long time with "brotherly love", that however is not the way it was when he came on board.

All of us have to accept this . . . . Mike Bobo is Mark Richt's man. I say this season with all of the weapons that the offense has, Mike Bobo has no place to hide. Talent like many have mentioned on this and other threads does not come along every football season. We went this route with Willie Martinez, hurt us, and still carries some after shock.

Got answers, speak the hell up, or . . . .

I'm with ya sflanagan21. It's time to learn from it and let it go. I coach younger kids and those guys, for the most part, forget a loss by the time they get back to the truck. But I always try and teach them to learn from mistakes and we practice to avoid those mistakes again. I hope the Dawgs do that this week preparing for the chickens.

Seems like I'm the only one here putting a lot of blame on Bobo. Hopefully he learned to adjust and not call run, run, pass every freakin' series. It gets old and the opposing D figures it out really quickly.

The coaches will need to put a lot of emphasis on the OL this week. That's all there is to it. They have a lot more potential that they displayed Sat. night.

Another week, another team, get'er done this week Dawgs.

Buc for me, its got to be TG and BB, we can not stop the run, and TG has had 4 years to get us where we need to be. Our D just looks so weak and out of place. Like others have said, our kids or grandkids, can call plays better than BB. I mean you can't run up the middle 2 out of 3 plays and then try to pass on 3rd and long ect. Every coach in America can predict our play calling. There are so many plays that I see other teams rum, and I say to my self, why can't we do something like that.

As for AM, I wish he would have a great day for me, but I bet you Clowney puts him on his back 4 to 5 times, and the other side of their D sacks him also. Our OL sucks, and will in no way be able to stop SC pass rush. This is based on last year and from what I have seen in the first game. I mean 4 years in a row, to a school like USC, this to me is totally unacceptable . We have the better players, its just that unlike SS< CMR can not come up with a coaching staff to put us over the top. If USC wins, they will play ALA in the SEC, and we will be the also ran and have to hear the over rated chant as we did in 2008.

I'm not scared to speak my word! I will get back to ya Buc after the SC game. Right now I think CMR should go back to the play calling though! I do wish CMR would bring some more emotion in the big games though. I just feel like none of the top tier teams fear us BUT we always seemed to be nutted up as a team against the top tier teams! I feel like its our coaches job to change that...

Buc, let me start by saying I know that Richt will never be replaced, and while I've hoped for that for years, I know it's not going to happen. Let me also say that I know a new coach is no guarantee of success, especially for a year or two, however, had Richt been replaced 4 or 5 years ago when KD and I started mentioning it, we would have somebody that was already successful, or somebody that flopped and had been replaced by somebody on their way to being successful. Either way I think we would be miles ahead of where we are now, and I know Kirby Smart has no guarantees of success, but I think his best chance for success is here, and I wish we could have gotten him at some point.
Now in answer to your question, I would hire a new HC and both coordinators, and let them determine who else stays or goes. Bobo has become a laughingstock in college football, and Grantham shows fire and all that, but our mechanics on D are terrible and we have been giving him a pass with some different excuse every year.
I also will be pulling for our Dawgs every week, but I think a NC is out of the question this year, because even if we somehow win the SEC, a one loss SEC team isn't guaranteed to go since OSU likely will be undefeated and same lame team like Oregon or Notre lame might be as well.

The SMART era CONTINUES!!!!!!
