Why we lost

I don't know.... maybe he is just over-rated by an ability to dominate at a lower level, but just can't elevate his game when the opponent's level is higher?

I think it's obvious that there are other schools that just evaluate o-line talent
better than we do. I think you could give Saban his pick of 3 star o-line talent, and CMR his pick of 5 star... and 'Bama would still come up with a better line than ours.

The only other explanation is that we do fine evaluating the talent, but can't teach and coach this position very well.

God Bless and Go Dawgs

Yeah Buc I was wrong dead wrong about Theus, can admit that for sure. But all the blame cannot be put on him. The whole O line played like a bunch of rookies. Totally out skilled by a lesser defensive front, and that my friend boils down to 1 thing.....COACHING.....you stated yourself the Left Guard was tipping the snap count, I have not gone back and watched but if you say so then I say it is true, you know your O line for sure....and that my friend is again COACHING......should have been caught way before game time......so where do we put the blame.....not on some 18 to 20 year old young men....at least I don't....

And also Buc Saban recruits the TOP Talent from the state of GEORGIA not just Nationally.

First thing first. Mark Richt ain't going anywhere. That is regardless of what any of us may want or think.

Believe it was mentioned here that McGarity will keep Richt, think the post had something to do with money in the till and things along that line.

First off, in my opinion, Richt knows football. Anyone takes the time to look, he admitted that defense was not his bailiwick. Turned the defense over to a proven defensive coach.

Could be that either the game at this point has passed Richt by or in truth he is a great recruiter first and head coach second. Both titles carry pro and cons.

Agree with the statement made in this thread that Georgia has always had a lot of talent, that statement probably rates in the top five statements ever made on this board. All of us are aware of that. Been said lots and lots.

southernlover hit it very close. If we had won, this board would be filled with high praise. Same players, same coaches.

Some of what I think I have read so far is what I have read and participated in before on this board, and it goes back a ways. Monkey is not on my back or yours, it lays sqarely on the folks that present the product every Saturday.

Anyone here remember a statment made this week in another thread about long snappers? It came back to bite us in the butt.

Just looking around, I try to understand as much as I can.

ogredawg, never let it be said that you are one to hide. Know differently, have read every word you have ever placed on this board. 99/100 I am totally in agreement with you and our opinions, not that it means anything, hell have yet to see one member on this board get it right every time.

I do understand the offensive line play, maybe a little more than that, but offensive line I know wins and loses football games. Tell me if I am wrong, this 2013 line was supposed to be our saving grace. They got the ever loving spit beat out of them in Memorial Stadium.

Mentioned in another thread prior to the game. Said anyone interested take a look at the Nebraska game in Orlando, predicted that the Clemson game would be pretty much a repeat. Think thriller and I had that discussion, started with quarterback talk.

Difference between a 3/4 and a 4/3 is pretty simple and that is the reason that many young men want to play in a 4 man front. Less book work, not the same gap responsibilities.

Anyone thinks that we will not be ran on, time for you and I to make a wager. Many say and I agree to a point that football is not runfootball, it is passfootball. That is what the NFL wants. Period. What changes that is which is easier to run on, the 3 or the 4. That as ogredawg says, comes down to coaching.

Bouncing around, have more to say. Enjoyed reading so far, like the piss and vinegar, and it appears that we have several potential college coaches posting here, just need a chance to run a program or participate in same.

ogredawg, you have pulled me back more than once here, that I appreciate, I don't get hard feelings, it is about the well being of our football team. Who could possibly disagree with that?

Get the chance, check our left guard, shoulder pad rise and then set, did it the entire game. Watched the defensive line, they were motioning to each other. Crowd noise one thing, AM another slip, thought Bobo had moved further along.

Just an old man that has watched a lot of Georgia Football. Go back through every coach that has spent time in Athens, same things have been said. More noticeable now because of the internet. My opinion.

ogredawg, with Nick Saban it works like this . . . . ever go into any airport terminal and look at the arrival/departure board? Nick Saban works the same way, except for this . . . . "they" come to him.

All for now.

Saturday night was heartbreaking and it really could have gone the other way. A few mistakes here and there made the difference.

I posted a few days before the game about my concern on play calling and it seems that along with the mistakes killed us.

If I had the opportunity to ask CMB a post-game question, it would be this.
Coach, I think we can all agree that it was apparent our offensive line was struggling and it seemed we were running straight through the middle a lot. With that said, why didn’t you take another direction in your play calls to get Murray throwing the ball more frequently? Also, why did we not use our tightends very much?

I it’s just my opinion but Bobo did a horrible job calling plays.

The offensive line better step up Saturday or Murray will end up in the hospital and never take another snap again in his life. If our coaches can get the guys on the O-line calibrated, I feel we’ll be OK but Bobo needs some calibrating too.

If by "calibrated" you mean off their own face and in the face of the D-linemen, then yeah... that.
