I am critical when the team plays good or bad and the the coaches call dumb plays. I am probably one of the most critical members on this board.

This was the statement game of the year that Georgia had finally arrived and was ready for the big stage. The big thing was about five measly yards last year, along with a swiss cheese D and a young O line. The Clemson game was about five measly yards a bungled high snap and a swiss cheese D and an experienced offensive line. Anyone but me see a pattern here.

It is all about coaching, and yes Buc, Richt is not going anywhere but he best make some changes and soon..........big trouble looming Saturday........

Oh and whom do you replace..........I say all of them clean house and time to start over.....

Like others have said, our kids or grandkids, can call plays better than BB. I mean you can't run up the middle 2 out of 3 plays and then try to pass on 3rd and long ect. Every coach in America can predict our play calling. There are so many plays that I see other teams rum, and I say to my self, why can't we do something like that.

As for AM, I wish he would have a great day for me, but I bet you Clowney puts him on his back 4 to 5 times, and the other side of their D sacks him also. Our OL sucks, and will in no way be able to stop SC pass rush. This is based on last year and from what I have seen in the first game. I mean 4 years in a row, to a school like USC, this to me is totally unacceptable . We have the better players, its just that unlike SS< CMR can not come up with a coaching staff to put us over the top. If USC wins, they will play ALA in the SEC, and we will be the also ran and have to hear the over rated chant as we did in 2008.

Duck in agreement with your assessment of coaches and players knowing certain things about our offense. We run a pro-style offense, and while it benefits many of the players coming through the University of Georgia, it is an open book for game planning against us. That however comes down to talent. Every player on the field is not a Jarvis Jones, or Clowney or . . . . long list.

Alabama kicks butt most years because they have talent that is deeper than most in the SEC. Urban Meyer found that out, and is now in the Big whatever using the same lessons he learned after getting it handed to him by coaches like Saban, and lest we forget, Richt did put a knot on Liar's head in JAX.

Many colleges are moving to different types of spreads. Some of the new looks remind me a lot of the "old single wing". Lots of similarities. Basically that is the reason that "Liar" got away with what he did in the SEC, caught not one, not two, caught all coaches off guard. Mark Richt was one of them, but . . . . he was not the only one.

After the game with Clemson, would be surprised if Grantham did not "show" a lot more of a four (4) man front. A real 4 man front. Yes I know that he displays what he hopes offenses will read as a 4 man front, but trickery sometimes will bite you in the butt. As you say, Grantham has been here a while now, he also must understand that his coaching schemes have also been analyzed. Dare I say this . . . . just like "Liar's". This is not 1950, this is a different time warp.

Duck, thanks for stepping up, not unusual. You have never been one to hide from your feelings.

sadlerdawg, know that you (or think that you) remember a thread a few short years back that pertained to a head coaching change on this board. Folks came up and presented names of coaches that could do a better job.

Went back and looked at those suggestions. Surprising, some coaches have moved, not many, and not a single coach that was mentioned has made it to the National Championship Game. This goes back 3 or 4 years.

It was a given that Nick Saban would not leave Alabama by most that posted in that thread.

Guess my question is . . . . What about the coaches that stayed, have not moved forward?

Right now there is a lock on the National Championship, meaning the SEC. That appears to be a slimmer margin than say a year or two back.

Guess all of us have to decide what fits in our basket. Those that shout National Championship every season seem to forget that we (Georgia) have won the Crystal. The coaches named as replacements for Mark Richt have yet to win the "Big One". Just a thought.

Do I think changes need to be made, maybe. Not one at this point to say fire the coaching staff. Sounds like the same thing that has been around for many years. Firing is not always the answer. This group of coaches have been together a shorter length of time than the thread that was mentioned above. You and I have been friends for a long time, I have great respect for you as a person and your football knowledge, we just do not always agree.

Really want to see "most" of these coaches together for a couple more years, who knows, maybe something good comes out of being patient and allowing this group to work either their magic or . . . .

I do wish CMR would bring some more emotion in the big games though. I just feel like none of the top tier teams fear us BUT we always seemed to be nutted up as a team against the top tier teams! I feel like its our coaches job to change that...

GO DAWGS

sflanagan, did you by chance watch Mark Richt's actions in the Nebraska game? Emotion, Grantham in Nashville?

You have mentioned more than once that you played football and now coach football . . . . welcome to this board, many have, and on high levels. Look forward to discussing football with you after the South Carolina game. Here is hoping that both of us have :) on our faces.

You're right Buc. We do see eye to eye a lot, but not on this one. Several bones to pick--yes, We have won the crystal, but not Richt. And as for all the coaches who were mentioned who haven't either, I think many of them are saddled with a much lower talent pool (Patterson, Peterson, Mullen--never really agreed with that one, but still) or haven't had a chance, such as Kirby. They haven't won, that's correct, but could they with our talent?
And you say something good may come out of being patient, I would counter that many of us have been patient for several years. Sure, maybe richt will win one in the next 20 years, then everyone can say "see, I told you to have faith in richt", but even Nostradamus looks like a soothsayer when you spread his hundreds of predictions over hundreds of years and a few of them come true...

The SMART era CONTINUES!!!!!!

Brother, have never wavered or had second thoughts when I read "anything" that you either start or post to.

Both of us were born too close to the Okefenokee Swamp and the surrounding area to know anything other than putting it on our sleeve. Like your son said . . . . "rattlesnake holes", some things don't need to be "messed with".

Not a damn thing wrong with not being on the same page. Said earlier, I have enjoyed reading all of the posts in this thread that southernlover put up for all to see and say what they think. Separates "us" from the "others". My opinion.
