One loss that hurt our OL recruiting....and was a bummer was losing Chester Brown. He didn't get in UGA because of some immigration issue......interesting that he got in UCF.

We beat UF when they ended up with a 7-6 record
We beat UT when they ended up with a 5-7 record
We beat Abuurn when they ended up with a 8-5 record and finished 4th in the west.

and then we beat Tech

Meanwhile... we had to hand on for dear life against Vandy.. got spanked by LSU and
Boise, and gave away our bowl game.

Honestly... how can you look at that and be really impressed?

Yes we did show some improvement, but after the previous season that really wasn't too
difficult of a task.

I believe the original post of this thread by Buc had to do with coaching & recruiting (tough to remember after 17 pages of posts). Also think I remember Buc comparing & contrasting the offense & the defense so I'll keep w/that theme. As far as the recruiting topic goes I'll keep it brief, really like the players we signed, wish we could've landed a few/several more Olinemen.

As for coaching...coaching definitely improved on the D side of the ball from my seats in section 326. Players really improved too (thought the secondary improved as a unit the most) therefore our win total improved. On offense, I saw improvement from our group of WRs for sure. RB was a huge weaknesses due to lack of depth mainly, QB play was solid but not spectacular, while OL was tough to judge IMHO. We basically had a line up of 4 guards & 1 center w/2 guards playing out of position at tackle. I want to believe that Friend did more w/less that Searels would have done but I really need another season to evaluate CWF.

I'm cautiously optimistic about the 2012 season. I think we'll be MUCH better at RB & I really expect for AM to have a monster Jr. season. WRs should be a strength, TEs should be fine (hopefully we will remember to include them in our game planning), so the big question mark is once again, the O-line. Getting rather tired of having this same question year after year & that is on the head coach IMO.

For now, I still support Coach Richt & I still think he can lead us to the top of the mountain but I want to see some more creative play calling & some real focus placed on coaching up our special teams. Good thread here, lots of valid points by all.

However you want to put it Wart. I could also say that all of those teams had loses 2 of their losses to the no. 1 and 2 teams in the country. Also, would mention that I believe ut and aub, both lost to ark. Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't there a time when it was lsu, bama, and ark, 1-2-3 in the country. Guessing all of aub losses came teams ranked in the 25. Like I said, however, you want to put it.

You don't just go from 6-7 to 10-4 without some serious improvements. Just saying. We lost to the same Col, miss st, and ucf last year. This year, all of our losses were to teams that finished inside the Top 10 in at least 1 poll. To me, yes that is pretty good improvement in 1 year's time.

So you saw a team that improved Wart, but you want the staff gone because they didn't improve to what?

10 games, check.
SEC champ game, check.
New Year's bowl, check.
Top 10 recruiting class, check.

Might also want to look at why we landed JHC too. Funny, how Bobo is the first name he mentioned.

JH-C came to UGA because of CTG. He mentioned in his first interview that he really liked CTG. Bobo recruits S. Ga. being from Thomasville he knows the area. Bobo does deserve some credit when Grandpa was wavering and talked to JH-C to go with his heart and where he would be the most happy. I know for a fact that CTG personally recruited this young man and that is why he is a Dawg today. Most of the wavering was done to get some more press. Grandpa actually signed the LOI that afternoon not late that night or the next day.
