Letter to Bulldog Nation

"The championships thing"

I think we sometimes have a habit of moving to the extreme side of views. It happens.

I would say though that I don't think it's fair when people think that having a negative opinion
of something within the program is because we expect championships "every year" or else.

I don't think anyone thinks that, and many have posted repeatedly that what we want is to
be competitive with the top tier programs. I didn't think we were going to win the SEC
championship every other year after Richt won a couple.. not at all. I don't think we
are going to beat Florida every year, and I expect us to lose to Tech every once in awhile.
(although I do freely admit I will always be very upset and never accept it when we lose to Tech, lol)

It's not expecting championships every year. It's about expecting a team with our ability to recruit,
our money, and our tradition as a top 12 type program (the records going back to 1940 prove that
is what we are) to perform like a top 10-12 program. That means some years we should finish
well up in the top 10, and some years we may be a bit below it.

What we do expect is to NOT get blown out by Florida almost every year.. not to be behind the
8 ball after our first SEC contest.. not to struggle much with the Vanderbilts, Kentuckys and
Colorados of the world, and not to show up totally unprepared for a bowl game or a highly hyped game against a top level opponent. We do expect to not go into three seasons in a row being one injury
from an oft injured player away from a disaster on our offensive line.

"One question I would pose to this board. What can Bobo do to change your mind about him remaining as Offensive Coordinator? Think I have the answer. Does Richt?"

I think the correct answer is NOTHING. I don't think he's got "it".. it being a feel for the flow
of a game. I just don't think that is within him. I could say that what Bobo can do is to demonstrate he somehow found this elusive "it", but I think you either have it, or you don't.
Young OC's may make mistakes and do learn, but it's like the X factor.. it's either there or
it isn't.

God Bless and Go Dawgs

No offense taken. I just wish CMR would be a little more objective in evaluating his coaches. I often feel he would fall on his own sword to protect them. Don't think they would do that for him. Just saying.

TN Dawg, thanks for coming up. When you reach my age then you can spend more time on the computer stirring up trouble. Worked long and hard for the right. :)

Have no idea how long you have monitored this board, but from your post above, there is no doubting your credentials. Hope that you remain here, spend some quality time helping us move this board and UGA forward.

There have been a few folks that come to this board as happens on any board and run before they crawl or take baby steps.

Your statement about falling on the sword is well taken and has been discussed here, often. Richt really needs to give us something that is missing and I personally think it is leadership.

Big, no, huge game Saturday at High Noon, here is hoping that we are ready for the gunfight at OK Corral, it will be a smash mouth football game. Love SEC Football. . . . Go Dawgs, withdraw the Blue Tick comment, welcome TN Dawg.

I think we agree on most statements about CMR and Bobo. (I will be respectful and not call him Bozo because after all he is still one of us). A wise ole' Bulldog once made the comment that when other programs are looking for head coaches they will look at up-and-coming OCs and DCs. Is anyone looking at our OC for a head coaching position?

I have said it a thousand times and will now make it a thousand and one.

Either Richt makes changes or UGA Changes Coaches.

He refuses to change BOZO , find players that can stay out of trouble and want to earn the privilige to wear the G. So He must go.

Last year everybody was bringing up Brad Johnson as OC, heck if he won't fire his BFF Bozo, he would certainly never fire his brother-in-law if things didn't work out.

Good post bulldawg36869. The major difference between Bobo and BJ is BJ truly understands all phases of offensive football. On this board I have certainly let it be known that I would love to see BJ as offensive coordinator.

Time to time I hear some say that they would love to have Gruden as head coach. All I will say about that is this, if Gruden did not have BJ in Tampa, he would never have gotten that ring. The "Bull" was all that.

Maybe someone could take over the head coaching job and Richt could return to his rightful place in football, coaching the offense. Just a thought . . . . :) I know, once a head coach, always a head coach. In their minds.

Might be time for us (UGA) folks to get serious about winning more than six or so games a year. Also understand what happened prior to last season, wins and losses. Coaching skills have improved dramatically in the SEC since Richt arrived. Know this, the entire hierachy in Athens is beginning to notice empty seats and starting times for our games. There is a message written in plain English if anyone wants to take a close look at the last 3, 4, 5 years.

One question I would pose to this board. What can Bobo do to change your mind about him remaining as Offensive Coordinator? Think I have the answer. Does Richt?

Buc, I don't think there's anything he can do at this point...but I tell you what I think would help calm the masses. Conventional wisdom tells you to keep your QB in the pocket and encourage him not to run, in order to avoid injury. Conventional wisdom doesn't apply when you're QB is less likely to get hit on the run than he is in the pocket, which is the case for us this year. If I'm Bobo, I COMPLETELY take the reins off of Murry and let him do his thing (obviously this is a decision that has to be backed by Richt too.) In my opinion, this includes getting plays/audibles from the sideline. Let him make his own checkdowns...you have to figure that in the majority of those cases, if it's a passing down, he's going to look to Orson anyway and that's actually a positive. I think I remember them having moderate success together in high school...

I am truly afraid for Aaron Murray. I am sure, more afraid than he is.
I don't know who all saw the Alabama/ Arkansas game last Saturday.
I am surprised that the poor Arkansas QB can even walk.
Thank God we don't play Alabama or LSU with our OL and Bobo's play calling.

averagedawg, I watched the game. Allow me this. I watched UGA beat Bama on the road, prior to the Black Jersey Night in Athens. Since that win against Alabama, they have outdistanced us many times over. Makes one wonder why anyone could or would say that coaching does not matter, just need to get those four and five star athletes enrolled.

Hear some say that Bobo is a good quarterback coach, ok, what is that based on . . . because he played the position . . . his head coach did too, and where are we at, RIGHT NOW. Like you said, don't want to play Alabama or LSU or SOME that I won't mention because we know that a lot of the strength on the other teams is their coaches. I said that, their coaches.

AM is one of my favorite football players ever. Watched him grow and progress in the Central Florida area. Take this young man and put him on Saban's football team, controlled football, everyone plays their part. Alabama would be far and away the best team in the country.

averagedawg, every game I watch now scares the you know what out of me. He will literally break a leg for his team mates. Not like some that don't like lifting and running and studying and being good human beings. AM was a BMOC in high school, but you would never know it, and he did not play that part. Garcia for South Carolina did in the same area of Central Florida. Someday folks in the UGA community might understand that they had the real deal in Athens.
