Being a good position coach doesn't necessarily translate into being a good coordinator or head coach.
Meaning . . . . from offensive coordinator at FSU, then coming to UGA as head coach. As Mike Honcho pointed out, the decline in UGA football was a result of not understanding. Did Richt not understand what he was doing when he appointed WM as defensive coordinator. Know this, WM left in a huff.
Where was Georgia Bulldogs football when Richt was hired?
Where is UGA football now?

Michigan State gets minor league talent when compared to LSU or Alabama. Just being relevant there is an achievement.
And My esteemed colleague above mentioned Oklahomas defense...............which has given up a considerable amount of points. They have benefited from having an offense that wisely controls the ball and playing in a weak conference.
