Players in college these days have been playing in the spread offense since they were in grade school. Right up through high school and then college. Incredibly tough to defense the different variations of the spread.

Bobo or who ever is calling the offensive plays needs to (here I go again) look at the talent you have on the field and use it accordingly. This weekend against Ole Miss if we are not using our tight ends as they should be used, might have to buy another TV set next week. Breaking these sets can get expensive. Too much talent on the UGA offense, too little offensive coordinator game day recognition after watching film all week.

That's the issue I have when people <cough Bucky cough> want to defend Richt by saying the issue is
the O-line problems. For 4 years it seemed we hung
our entire bag of hope on the return of Sturdivant.
I've got news for you..if you didn't see the folly of
that after ACL #2, then there is definitely something
lacking with your mental acumen.

Why indeed do we have no O-line? Who is responsible
for that? Who doesn't get that your 4-5 star skill players
can do little without an offensive line?

Sorry, but there is little anyone can say to convince me
the O-line situation doesn't fall into CMR's lap. I quit
banking on Sturdivant....oh probably back in 2009.
I would have proceeded with recruiting as if he wasn't
there and then if he was able to stay healthy for more
than 1 game then it was a depth bonus.

I understand kids graduate. I understand kids get hurt,
but come on. Perennial top programs are prepared. When the senior goes down or graduates, there is a
junior or red shirt sophomore ready to step in. Then past that there is a highly regarded red shirt freshman ready
to go as well. We went in this season with NO depth
on the O-line. We went into this season with NO depth
at ILB.

Someone wants to defend CMR based on that we have
issues there? Defend him??? It's not Richt's fault???

I throw the BS flag on that one, Bucky

Maybe... maybe you get a one season pass, but our
O-line didn't have depth last season either. I'm pretty
sure our O-line wasn't that great the year before that
as well.

News flash.. the lines of scrimmage is where it all starts
and ends. General Patton said the weapon that won WW2 in Europe was the 2.5 ton truck, not the P-51
Mustang. That's we had a gadzillion of them. I wish
this staff had the same philosophy regarding the area
of a football team that facilitates getting the ammo of
your skill players in position to do damage. We can
have all the AM's, IC's, and Mitchells we want and it
means little without the 2.5 ton trucks doing the
grunt work.

How many times do you think Saban goes into a season
with an out of position guard at the most critical OL left tackle position, a freshman RT, and absolutely nothing
backing them up...after the season before when he
also had O-line depth and quality issues.

/end rant

I love it when recruiting battles come down to Georgia and Oklahoma State. I can't lose. Go Jenkins, Sic 'em!

Without a doubt the o-line is the most important unit on the field. A good o-line will make average skill players look good, and good skill players look great... while a bad o-line will make everyone look bad. But when I watch the offense I don't see that it is all the o-lines fault. Running backs out of position to pick up blitzes, approaching the wrong gap, tripping over the QB, WR's running the wrong routes or not being ready to look for the ball when it is in the air... none of those things are on the o-line.

I know everyone things that we have great athletes, and we're certainly athletic. But players not only need to be athletic, they need to be smart, too. And I'm getting sick of seeing all the stupid stuff that I see from our offense, too. Not only do they appear to be ill-prepared, but they look to me to be just plain stupid.

Oh it's not ALL the O-lines fault. You're right that the backs cant block, and there are a
few other issues... but the O-line has also been an issue. A big issue, and it has been
for awhile. Our run blocking appears okay, but not dominant... and our pass blocking, the
pass blocking is not good.

I see bad footwork and bad bad technique all the time, and when is the last time we
haven't been "thin" on the O-line? It seems like for the past 4 years we've been one
Trenton Sturdivant injury away from disaster.

Being a good position coach doesn't necessarily translate into being a good coordinator or head coach.

Meaning . . . . from offensive coordinator at FSU, then coming to UGA as head coach. As Mike Honcho pointed out, the decline in UGA football was a result of not understanding. Did Richt not understand what he was doing when he appointed WM as defensive coordinator. Know this, WM left in a huff.

Where was Georgia Bulldogs football when Richt was hired?
