No one will ever convince me that Erk should not have been the head coach at UGA. Quite frankly, I think he got the shaft. Won't go too far into that. Some here think that VD was all that, whatever.
BVG, excellent coach and demanded top notch defensive play, from 11 players, not one or two.
I have the same feelings about Grantham. Right, wrong or otherwise, he is full of pp and vinegar. Demands that 11 guys play football. That has been and maybe still is missing to a point with our defense at this point. Grantham knows how to move folks around, think that is evident this year as compared to last season. Hard to overcome injuries . . . . not making excuses, still have some games to play.
I look at successful programs across the country, year after year, not a one or two time hit. LSU, defensive head coach, Alabama, defensive head coach, Boise State, hell of a defensive and offensive head coach in one package.
Meyer had his way until the SEC caught up with his plan. He knew it was time to leave, Tebow was gone and Mullen was his reason for offensive football being what it was while coaching there.
I hear coaches names mentioned as the next great coach. Put Mullen in Gainesville with the talent residing in the State of Florida, folks like it or not, that would be scary. Hope he continues to coach at Miss State. My wish is that the present head coach at Florida, being a defensive coach, fails and breaks the mold of good defensive coaches mentioned above having success.
wlayton, we have a coach right now that can turn this offensive side of the ball around. He just needs to release one coach or give him other duties and go back to doing what it is that he does best. Richt can recruit and he understand offensive football. Play sir to your strengths. Bobo is not one of your strengths.

Here's the thing though..
I agree that elements of the team played well against SC.
The problem is we still found a way to blow it. The costly turnover.. the special team break down.
Do we look better... yes, but the fact remains we still found a way to blow it, and we've been
doing that consistently for awhile. I'm not laying that all on CMR, but it explains the frustration
with this team. It falls into the discipline category. Break downs come/blown assignments is a lack of
discipline. A costly turnover can often be a lack of discipline in that you have to be disciplined
enough to not try and do too much at the wrong moment. Flying to the ball on defense is awesome as long as you don't awesomely fly yourself right out of position and get burned on miss direction
later on.
I'm willing to see how the year plays out as well, but I want to see us play a few games where we
play 60 minutes smart. Nothing we did against Boise was smart, and neither was a breakdown on
special teams against SC. Especially considering the coach on the other side, where they were on the field at the time, and that we had just tried a trick play against him. A trick play in which
a lack of discipline caused us to be offside which is what made our trick play fail. You CAN NOT
go offside on a play like that. You just can't. Enthusiasm to make the play must be tempered with
the discipline to not go offside.

I could live with Bobo going back to QB coach and CMR taking the OC back but not sure the offensive side of the ball isn't passing CMR by a bit. I think I would like to see a more dynamic OC come in and create some excitement.......(but what do I know

Maybe the offensive side of the ball possibly passing him by is a by-product of him not
handling the offense for awhile.
Maybe, just maybe... if he took the offense over again.. maybe he could catch back up
and be innovative once again.

wlayton wrote: Hey Buc, I'm with ya. Believe CMR is a good offensive coach but also think he gets a little too conservative and doesn't "go for the throat". Also believe a lot of the newer OC's are more aggressive, innovative and creative in their game plans.
