Mentioned earlier in this thread the Thomas Davis name. Anyone that has read a single post I have made understands that I believe in solid, hardnosed football. Thomas Davis was all that. Still say, Thomas if your playing days are over, your first employer should be UGA.
No one will ever convince me that Erk should not have been the head coach at UGA. Quite frankly, I think he got the shaft. Won't go too far into that. Some here think that VD was all that, whatever.
BVG, excellent coach and demanded top notch defensive play, from 11 players, not one or two.
I have the same feelings about Grantham. Right, wrong or otherwise, he is full of pp and vinegar. Demands that 11 guys play football. That has been and maybe still is missing to a point with our defense at this point. Grantham knows how to move folks around, think that is evident this year as compared to last season. Hard to overcome injuries . . . . not making excuses, still have some games to play.
I look at successful programs across the country, year after year, not a one or two time hit. LSU, defensive head coach, Alabama, defensive head coach, Boise State, hell of a defensive and offensive head coach in one package.
Meyer had his way until the SEC caught up with his plan. He knew it was time to leave, Tebow was gone and Mullen was his reason for offensive football being what it was while coaching there.
I hear coaches names mentioned as the next great coach. Put Mullen in Gainesville with the talent residing in the State of Florida, folks like it or not, that would be scary. Hope he continues to coach at Miss State. My wish is that the present head coach at Florida, being a defensive coach, fails and breaks the mold of good defensive coaches mentioned above having success.
wlayton, we have a coach right now that can turn this offensive side of the ball around. He just needs to release one coach or give him other duties and go back to doing what it is that he does best. Richt can recruit and he understand offensive football. Play sir to your strengths. Bobo is not one of your strengths.
