Important to get Jenkins than.

IMO, the most important signings we need of the guys still uncommitted out there:

Offense

1. Crowell, RB
2. Xavier Ward, OT
3. Mitchell, WR
4. Rome, TE

Defense:

1. Jenkins
2. Drew

Another reason that I like Grantham . . . .

As Todd Grantham gets re-acquainted with the recruiting trail, he has developed a pretty central philosophy:

“The first thing I ask is: Can the guy help us beat Florida,” Grantham, the Georgia defensive coordinator, said on Wednesday. “I mean truthfully, because that’s who we have to beat to win the SEC. And off the guys that I feel like we’re recruiting and have committed to us, I can say yes off of that. So I’m really excited off those guys.”

But what about South Carolina – which won the division this year and might be the favorite next year?

“I’m playing percentages,” Grantham said.

Nice dig CTG . . . . :) SS needs to hear voices . . . from the UGA program.

Looked at those jenkins videos again. Pretty quick for that size. The only thing I see is he will have to work a little on not getting stood up-even then, he seems strong enough to push the OC back.

When he stayed low, he pushed the OC like he was ten years old.

Sure UGA will fix that for him.

Gotta get him.

If we do , I think you can have an impact player at each level of the defense:

DL

LB --jarvis Jones and MAYBE samuel

s-Ogletree and MAYBE Rambo, but not 100% sold on him yet.

A sleeper recruit? A freak athlete like Nick marshall projects as the perfect CB for Lakatos (he likes them taller) and Marshall is over 6 feet. he could be a taller Brendan Smith --CB/KR/PR/WR/RB/QB in wildcate, etc.

Get guys like that on the field.

Hey Buc - sure like CTG's comments about uf - music to my ears

Do any of you guys know how many scholarships we will have to offer this year

Looks like around 23 - maybe more - counting those that have finished their eligibility - seniors + a few juniors - a few that may leave early (aj etc) and a few walk ons that got 1 year scholarships this year when we kicked off a few guys

I know CMR doesn't sign up a bunch of guys like most of the others do - but it looks like we may have a much bigger class this year than the last few

Assuming we sign what we have committed so far (16) and the 7 or 8 that are high on the wish list - looks like we need room for almost 25 scholarships

Thanks Buc - guess we'll get a few more if any go pro and the "however" will give us a few so that we have enough to compete the "dream team"

Save some so ga caviar for later - think I have enough to last a while - think all our friends that came up to leaf look brought us some

COUNTING SCHOLARSHIPS: Currently, there are 82 scholarship players on the roster, which is three under the NCAA limit of 85, but two of those (see ^ above), will not be a consideration as far as counting the number of scholarships available for the Class of 2011. Those three unused scholarships, along with the 14 freed up by departing seniors and two players forgoeing their senior seasons, leaves UGA with 19 scholarships for the Class of 2011.

However, as is the case every year, there will be more scholarships freed up due to players with remaining eligibility leaving the team for a variety of reasons. Under NCAA rules, college can sign a maximum 28 prospective student athletes (prospects) per signing period (first Wednesday in Feb through April 14) but add only 25 initial counters as scholarship players per year. All scholarships are awarded on a one year basis. The coaching staff must submit a roster of all returning scholarship players to the SEC by July 1st of every year
