Things sound encouraging this week. Do you realize if we nail down 5 of these last 7 or so names we are hearing , we could go to #1 in recruiting? I said on this site after the uf game that I was told it was a done deal IC and Rad drew would be hear-we'll see.

But if we add Drew, IC, Rome, Mitchell, Swain, and the two JUCO DLmen, thats 3-4 5 stars right there.

Don't forget Bray.....he's a Percy Harvin type used all over the field.

Thanks wlayton, how could I forget? Some say he is actually a better all around back than IC.

heck, if we get 4-5 of these names, we will have done well.

I work with a guy who used to be a QB at Tennessee. We were talking baout the uf hire. Ended up getting around to why I thought Richt has some coaching issues.

I had forgotten about this one but: we sign a 5 star WR out of Mmephis named Marlon Brown. We allow him to make two catches his frosh year; if i am not mistaken, I don't think he got into a game until 3-4 games into the year.

This year, he has, what, 7 catches?????

here is a guy that should have been redshirted. We wasted a year from him by letting him play as a frosh.

My question; what type coaching decision was that? Best case, we will get two years out of a 5 star prospect.

remember the Lumpkin-brown-ware trio? no one was ever allowed to get into a rythmn.

oh well, just some stuff that came to mind while on this post

I hope we can get at least 5 of the guys that have been mentioned. Realistically, I think that would be a great number and a great class. To much talent in GA to get all the kids, only get 25 or so scholarships a year to offer. I believe this staff will close strong.

As far as the Marlon Brown thing, I think he is a prime example of the flaws in the system. No way he should have been a 5 star kid. Not that he is a terrible player, but AJ was able to come in and make an immediate impact with the same coaching staff. That is what 5 stars do. Not much coaching has to be done. Brown faced kids that were probably 5'6" - 5'10", that ran anywhere from 4.8-5.1 in the 40. Trust me. Coached high school in TN, and the talent pool is not comparable to other power states. Especially considering he played Division 2, private school high school football. Marlon is not to blame, but the recruiting system just missed. That is why they have stated 5 stars are going to be seen a lot less often. As far as red shirting, probably should have, but our numbers were and are still very lean at that position compared to what they need to be.

As far as the RB rotation, I will continue to state that 1 back systems are a thing of the past. Not to mention, that none of those guys were feature back talent. Believe 1 may still be on a NFL team. Not saying they weren't good players because they were, but to be a feature back in the SEC, you better be a first or second rounder. Plus, makes it harder to recruit when only one back is getting the reps. IC has even stated that he wants to play early and that he likes the way bama rotates their backs. All recruits want to play right away.

Alldawg, good points. I guess what i'm trying to say is for someone 6-5 and 220lbs, he shpould be better than he is. He wasn't coached up in my opinion.

Look at the kids at Boise State: they are 2 and 3 star rercruits but whenever they do play an Oklahoma, a va tech, a Oregon, etc., THEY step up.

I was just trying to say that if we were so thin at WR two years ago, then why did he get only two catches? I was at the only game he caught a ball that year-tenn tech. I find it hard to believe he is so bad, that he couldn't have caught 5 yard slants as a 6-5 frosh.

I feel that we just haven't been coaching kids up.

As far as RB's are concerned, thomas brown WAS a 5 star coming out, so was Lumpkin.

I don't have a problem with two backs. Richt's problem was Lumpkin would have an 18 carry game, then get 2 carries over the next three weeks; the same with the others. there was no continuity.

Richt is 41-3 when ONE back gets 100 yards.

Who was the back Lattimore rotated with?

If IC comes here, pick either ealey or King, and let one of them rotate with IC. period. let the other one be a scrub.
