Alldog, love the conversation. We know the NFL drafts on potential now. Compare the 1st/2nd round picks the first 6 years vs the last 4 years. Even with Stafford and Moreno going #1, it isn't close.

That means either A) We don't evaluate players as well as we used to, or B) We don't make the good player great.

Either way, CMR is the CEO and he isn't getting it done.

I want him back next year but if he can't win the East next year, he should be fired (uf comes after a week off plus new coaches; SC is at Home, and we don't play LSU/Bama/Arkansas next year; AM may be the best QB in SEC)

If not 2011, when?

I always enjoy dropping by this board. Maybe I'm not here enough to know but you guys always have civil conversations. At most boards you have to wade through so much crap that it's hardly worth the effort or, in my case, time.

A couple of points:
If memory serves, M. Brown was a recruit who did not want to be redshirted and UGA said OK. Brown was mis-evaluated to the extent that the staff thought he was good enough to cater to. I think they acquiesced because they wanted his recruiting stars to make the class look better.

The real failure with this kid (and many others) is the failure of S&C. Compare Brown 6-5/219 (roster weight) physically with USC's Jeffery 6-4/233 (both soph's). Brown should be in the 240's and absolutely killing people.

Orson Charles is listed at 240 (maybe he is) but I saw him this year get jammed at the LOS head-to-head during a blocking attempt with a DE and pushed down the line quickly enough that Ealey tripped over him in the hole at guard/center. Rarely have I seen a starter for any team get beaten that badly. Beaten is the wrong word - bullied or mauled fit better.

Joe T. will have to substantially change that culture in the next 6 months or Richt is history.

Greene and Pollack were not 5 star recruits.
The difference between the top recruiting class and the twenty fifth class is often minimal.

What do you mean when you say pan out? Are you talking NFL careers, or college careers? Either way I have to disagree to a point, because offensively, I would argue that the talent is developing just as good the last 5 years as it was the first 5. Talented guys are still getting drafted high and we are still scoring enough points to win a lot of football games.

I will agree with you overall because the defenses used to dominate games, or have the ability to keep us in games like we haven't seen in the last couple of years. And Richt is also responsible for that. I wouldn't say he is responsible for developing any defensive player personally just like I don't think Saban had anything to do with developing Ingram, or Chizek did developing Newton. But ultimately Richt makes the decision about who he surrounds himself with, so I can understand where you are coming from if you are referring to defensive development.

RabunDog, I agree. At this level O-Line is crucial. It is a lot easier for a great offensive line to make a sub par RB look good than it is the other way around at the level this level of football.

Good point of views all the way around. I really hope with get IC and/or QB. Need a home run threat out of the back field.

Believe we are fine at the QB position for a while with CL coming in (redshirt) and AM will be at UGA for 4 full years.

Right on again averagedawg. Makes one wonder about the rating system. Said before, 40 times are for reporters. Comes down to coaching. . . .
