I'll stick up for Coach Richt

I for one don't necessarily insist on his firing if he would change/adapt. Grow some stones and get out and hire a top notch offensive coordinator and let CTG loose. If he wants to be a CEO then his job is to get the best qualified managers (coaches) and let them do their job. They don't get it done, hire someone that will. He has so much as said ain't nothing gonna change.

That stance in itself has led me, and I suspect many others, to call for his job. Ever heard the saying "if you always do what you always did you'll always get what you always got"

or the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expect different results.

Yes we had some good years but with the caliber of athletes we had it should have been UGA winning NC's and not LSU or FL (twice).

Ever thought the reason recruiting has suffered lately is the 4 and 5 star recruits are being told by Miles, Mullen, Kiffin (last year), Meyer and Saban etc., hey if Richt can't win the SEC and NC's with that talent they never will. You want to win come here and let's make history.

One more thing oledawg, not one post that I have read said they were not gonna support the University of Georgia. What is contantly being said is we no longer support Coach Richt's style/philosphy and the recent results. I live in Alabama, my nickname is Bulldawg, I have 2 cars, one red and 1 black, I have a stone bulldog on my porch and I wear my GA attire on a regular basis.(including this past Sunday). Don't think I ain't catching hell right now. I am far from a fair weather fan and I suspect most on Dawgs.com are not either. to suggest otherwise is a personal insult.

Some are wise and some are otherwise !

When things get too hot, I try not to throw a lot of fuel on a fire that is blazing.

bulldawg36869, think your post pretty much covers some of the feelings on this site. Honest, direct post in this thread.

The one post, of which there are several, that lays out what one side thinks about the coaching in the recent past is this one, in my opinion again the truth is here.

Not quite understanding your decline logic in the last 5 years??
Maybe you can help me (or maybe I made an error),....

Certainly.

2005 10-3

2005 began the beginning of the two hand touch defense. That year Auburn with Irons and Arkansas with McFadden ran all over us like we were marshmallows. There was poor coaching, poor discipline and poor effort. The record turned out OK because the team had amazing talent. That level of talent should perform better than 10-3. I knew WVU would run all over us in the bowl game.

I am beginning to see the softness was Richt and maybe mot Martinez.

2006 9-3

Lost to Vandy and Kentucky. That should never happen with a roster full of studs. Poorly coached still.

2007 11-2

This was the mirage. The boys played some good football once their guts were questioned.

2008 10-3

Preseason #1 with more talent than just about anyone. Came out flat against Alabama just like we did against WVU back in the bowl game. The team was ill prepared yet again. The Ga Tech loss clearly showed the poor tackling and discipline.

2009 8-5

This is what happens when star players move on to the NFL and the coaching still stinks.

Maybe the defense under Willie was part of that decline you're talking about but based upon the recent 5 years looks pretty respectable to me. Course Stafford and Moreno helped some. Looks like an up down people at skill position replacement thing to me. But then again I'm not expecting to win them all or lose them all. 48-16 about a .666 winning record. Any way I still support CMR and UGA.

I do not expect them to win them all. I do expect effort, discipline and aggressiveness. This is football and not choir group.

Now one thing I will agree on is the dicipline thing has got to get better, I've pretty much had it with the "STUPID antics"!

It all stems from the fact Richt is soft. You cannot ask Ghandi to lead people into battle. He does not have the stones to do it.

Well considering that anything that could go wrong in about half of those losses, did go wrong, I do not think that 48-16 is a terrible record. Lost some games in the time that we definitely shouldn't have lost, but also won some games that we shouldn't have won.

I am going to be flat out honest. I am tired of people questioning CMR'r manhood. Because he doesn't pitch a fit on the sidelines and show the emotion that apparently is the only thing that makes you "strict" or "shows that you care", he has not stones and is way to soft. I don't think there is a person on here who knows the man personally, and just because he is not winning does not mean he is soft. If you don't know him personally, as men, you shouldn't just blurt out at the mouth. Who on this board knows what he does behind closed doors. NO ONE. Ever heard "Walk silently, but carry a big stick" You want him fired, you are free to your opinion and that is fine, but winning and losing has nothing to do with a coaches manhood. I seen some of the sternest, strictest coaches lose a lot of football games.

Tired of people saying he can't control discipline. How would you do it? Kick everyone off that has a discipline issue? Good luck on wins and losses then, or getting any recruits. It is that simple to transfer now. The NCAA needs to spend more time here. They need to mandate something that if you enroll in a school and get into legal trouble, you lose 2 years of eligibility and have only 1 year to play somewhere else. Or that, you can only move down once you get into trouble at a D-1 school. But instead, they spend there time worrying about punishing kid who sells his OWN JERSEY.

Going to point out that Bear Bryant, had back to back 6-5 seasons at the University of Alabama in his prime. Boy would they have messed up if they would have fired him. Man won a couple of NC after those seasons. I am not saying that CMR is going to do that, but look at he man's records. Seriously, look at the record. Don't point out that CMR is making all this money. Well yeah he is, but I am sure adjusting to the SOL at that time, I would say Bear Bryant was making quite a bit more than the average working man at that time.

Anyway, making the trip from Knoxville this weekend with the honey, who happens to be a ut fan, we have to win, or it is going to be long drive back. Not to mention, I am still hearing about last year's game.

Agree. What would everyone be saying if we fired Richt, and started the coaching carousel that a lot of programs have. Would it be worth it then?

Good post.

Before 2002, we ALL would have agreed to pay ANYONE 5 million, no.....10 million, no.....never mind, for someone to come in and win us two SEC Championships.......wouldn't we? I know...things have changed and I also agree with all that as well.

Again, I agree with Tony.....I'm willing to give CMR one and only ONE more year as long as it is without Bobo on staff (I could live with demoting him back to QB's coach).
