Well, just finished reading for an hour or so about Sam Pittman and Jim Chaney. To be honest, never heard of either before now.
Will say I have a good vibe about Chaney after looking at his history. No great stats that I saw from teams he was with, but just see him staying at Purdue and then nfl Rams long enough to know they thought he was a keeper. Understand why the short stint in tenn with head coach turnover. Wonder why he left ark for Pitt? That was a strange move.
Just don't know what to think about Sam Pittman. See he hasn't stayed anywhere that long. Multiple one or two year stops along the way. No big time winners I could see along the way. His longest stop was unc while butch Davis was there and not to hard to figure what he learned from butch. Kind of surprised how much money he is making. He got a nice raise to join the dogs. Just seems like a guy who will leave again if offered more $, but I think he has maxed out in the dough department.
will say again I think Kirby was a good hire. Says a lot to me he stayed in one place as long as he did. That place being bama makes it that much better. Not so sure about his offense coaches, but look forward to seeing how it works out.
If I still post here in a few years you will hear me say congrats, good call, if it all works out. If it doesn't work out I'll say be patient.
Edit.. Just saw Sam Pittman had two stints at northern Illinois. That's the best thing I've read. That's not big time (23,000 stadium), but it says something to me when a guy gets called back.
