Although Kirby is known primarily as a defensive coach, I don't doubt for a minute that his hands
will be all over the offense as well.

I expect every player will know his role, what is expected of him and held to the same standard as the head coach holds for himself and his staff.

Go Dawgs!!!!!!

Richt's offense sputtered and stalled all season long.
The whole plan was Nick Chubb and little else.
It never seemed like the offense bought into the system. One might argue it was lack of a QB, I argue lack of coaching.
Ironically,Chubb stays healthy, we probably beat Tn and Richt is still hc.

Which is why many here at dawgs.com and others who are capable of serious analysis were able to look past Mark Richt's consistent winning of 9.4 games per season and see how flawed he was as a coach.

With our schedule, and athlete's like Murray, Gurley, and Chubb... Ray Goff could
have won 9 games per season.

Which is a direct tie in to if we can keep the recruiting up to our standards, then we are golden. I have ZERO doubt that better actually coaching would have produced better results than what we had with Murray, Gurley, and Chubb.

Get the athletes, and the Tide wont be the only one rolling.

God Bless and Go Dawgs

I didn't expect Hocke to be retained, and I think this departure is one of the bigger storylines of the early Kirby Smart era than most journalists are going to see into.

Think about this. The previous coach always talked up the S&C at Georgia and how the players were progressing season to season under Hocke. Now think about this...

Remember when Kirby was hired? Who is the very first name we heard associated with him potentially coming to UGA? Scott Cochran. Why? Because of their friendship? Doubtful. Because it was clear that someone leaked to the press that Kirby was trying to get Cochran to Athens and that speaks volumes. No early chatter about coordinators or position coaches - but rather, a S&C coach. My guess is that everyone at Bama knew UGA was a pushover as far as S&C goes and Kirby knew it immediately.

The thousand pound elephant in the room that a championship level S&C program was lacking at UGA would be hard to miss. In order to play "big and physical football," one has to have a big and physical strength & conditioning program right out of the gate.

It shows incredible foresight. I like it.

With any head coaching change, there will always be a huge coming and going of assistants.

Mark Hocke brought a different way of training to Athens from Tuscaloosa. I liked what I saw and the results he produced.

I pay attention to UCF football. My daughter is a graduate of UCF and have personally known some of the area football players that attended and played for UCF in Orlando.

Many years ago my company did a lot of work with UCF, back before and after the football program started. One of my memories is Herschel Walker practicing at UCF when he was a member of Donald Trump's professional football team. They were preparing to play a game on a high school football field in Winter Park, Florida. Basically Orlando area.

A little more history.

Ed Ellis earned his bachelor's degree in physical education and health from Alabama in 1987 and received a master's degree in education from Arkansas in 1989.

Scott Sinclair was an assistant under Ellis at UCF.

While I hate to see certain coaches leave, I am excited about the coaches that Kirby Smart is bringing to the Classic City. Scott and Ed flat out get the job done, the players have great respect for both men. Might notice that Ellis has that "Alabama" background. Just saying.

S&C is in very good hands.

Thought some might want to view the video below.

One last thing, this hiring also opens the gates wider for recruiting the Central Florida area. Lots and lots of talent in the area.

Liked what I saw in the video Buc. Both on the same page with the same vision. Mentions mental toughness in the video not the first time I've heard that coming from our new coaches.
