"Teacher's pet," remember those we used to punish at recess.
Richt promises some kids things before they have proven they are worth what they are promised.
As Buc says, Fact.
averagedawg, your post is a shining example of why we have a second stringer. Our head coach needs to drop the "attitude" and settle into what he can and cannot do. My thoughts.

You will not see Nick Saban promise a kid any thing other than an equal opportunity to succeed.Buc wrote:

Or sign a hefty NFL contract.

Nick Saban is whether anyone likes him or not, a football coach. The best.
I go back to the day of Bear Byrant, remember some of the same things being said, but it was the media doing it then. Fans had to subscribe to a local newspaper to build opinions. Much has changed, and this old fart has witnessed it.
Folks in Alabama have one thing to showboat for all to see. They have a serious college football team in Tuscaloosa. Bear left, many coaching in betweens, then Nick showed up. Some universities want championships and they do what is necessary. Other universities don't or will not go that far.
Might be the wrong thing to say but you know me . . . . "you get what you pay for". Nick makes 7+ million every year. mark makes the lowly sum of 3+ million every year.

Here's why....FSU was simply loaded on D.
In 2012 under Stoops....FSU ranked 2nd in the country in total D giving up 253.8 yards/game and 3.85 yards per play
In 2013 under Pruitt, FSU was ranked 3rd in the country in total D giving up 281.4 yards/game and 4.09 yards per play.
Imo....FSU was simply LOADED on D in both 2012 and 2013.... better stats before Pruitt got there.
Granted those are outstanding numbers and am confident he is an excellent hire but I'm not crowning him anything just yet.
Neither am I, but we have to be fair... FSU was loaded, but Pruitt at least didn't screw it up.
Grantham would have.
All 3 seasons Pruitt was at 'Bama, they ranked in the top 10 is passing efficiency defense, and last year after he left they dropped to 26th.

I think he is a great coach, great hire, will do a great job and may fill our "achilles heel".
Just wanted to make an "objective" observation that FSU's D was as LOADED a collegiate D as I've ever witnessed and I still am waiting to observe before crowning him anything.....waiting optimistically as well.
Most know I work in the financial business (Wall Street, stocks, bonds etc).....we have a saying that applies to this Pruitt situation that simply makes me want to wait and see.
"don't confuse brilliance with a bull market".....
