If by some divine intervention we land Kirby Smart, it will mean Richt is planning to hang it up.
I don't think Richt wants any competent competition.
Also need a coach who is familiar with recruiting in Dixie.
Very hard for a foreigner to immediately understand how it is here.

Wishful thoughts would be that we land Kirby. Realistically, I do not see that happening. I believe he will only leave bama for a HC job. Same goes with the DC at MSU. Went and did a little internet surfing just to see some of the names that have been popping up. Randy Shannon, David Gibbs, Kirby Smart, Clancy Pentergast, Manny Diaz. etc.

David Gibbs is a good football coach. Randy Shannon would be a great recruiter, Pendergast did a pretty good job at usc this year, and Smart seems very unrealistic unless we are going to see another certain individual step down(CMR).
Diaz was just fired by Texas this year.

To me start with Smart, then go to Chavis. Probably not going to have any luck with those 2, but I would definitely make sure.

This is a big hire. To me, they better act fast. Everyday that goes by without naming a DC is another day other schools gain ground on uncommitted and committed defensive players.

GO DAWGS. Would think there would be more information from the athletic department by now.

I know for a fact Alabama fanbase are worried about Smart leaving.
Probably take a millian five to get him as DC and some assurance of the HC job.
If by miracle, Kirby comes to Athens, Saban goes after the FSU DC.
Interesting how Saban is not afraid to shake it up, lots of turnover in Tuscaloosa.
