DAWGtm, you are dead on, in my opinion.
One thing we have on the defensive side of the ball is more than one good defensive lineman sitting on the bench. I have wanted that fourth man with his hand in the dirt for a while.
grantham was playing get after the quarterback. Agree with that, but coaches in the SEC know that the three man front can be run on. Don't have to call selected games from the past, all or most of us know what I am talking about.
Believe it was said a year ago that a 4-2-5 defense is what the talent in Athens is suited for. AllDawgs5 and a couple of others mentioned that in the past week or two. I cross my fingers that the 4-2-5 is played a lot in 2014.
Will there be improvement, I would bet the farm on it. sadlerdawg says some improvement. First off I/we don't know who the Defensive Coordinator will be.
Do know this . . . . there is talent (again) in Athens. grantham leaving will have no effect on 2014. These players for the most part have played in the 4 man front. That being the case, as sadlerdawg said in this thread . . . . no excuses.
Can't put my finger on this, but think that Coach Chris Wilson will get "results" from those already wearing the Red and Black. I also believe they will come to play. If the defense plays, not waving arms, the offense will be hard to handle.
Hutson Mason has to move into his role as quarterback seamlessly. He has waited for this opportunity for a long time. Now it is "showtime". Mike Bobo will run the football a lot this year if we get the offensive line to step up. Will never take my eyes off of the offensive line, starts right there.
