I agree CMR is not going anywhere for the forseeable future. We can all discuss it until our fingers bleed from typing on this board not going to change anything.

I'm on your side and agree completely. Same thing might happen over and over, but we may get a DC who gets our defense to be something more than an embarrassment, and that's better than what we are today.

In lieu of complete regime change, it's the next best thing we can hope for and I'm grasping at whatever straws
I can reach. Something is better than nothing.... and yeah I would probably go with promoting from within with
CW. As he said... the D-line is the one thing that is competent on that side of the ball.

Believe me WD I FEEL your frustration. Funny how CTG did pretty well the first year he was in Athens, did not really do too bad in the 2nd year. Then the reins tightend up on him and look where we are at right now. I just cannot figure out why or how you tighten up on your D Cordinator but give your O Cordinator free reign to screw up.

ogredawg, if there is one member on this board that is Bulldog passionate, Brother you fit the mold. Most are now on board with Mark Richt leaving, there is however as you know well, a process.

At our age, maybe should say my age, hair on my neck stands up when I think or believe someone or a group of "someones" are taking the Red and Black down. Richt and Grantham come to mind. Now I include McGarity, he has seen enough to make a decision. If not, he ain't what I once thought him to be. Might have to send him back to study under Jeremy Foley, could be he missed a chapter or two in his 10 year stint. McGarity had a huge hand in Grantham's raise. Yes?

Going down in my opinion happened before Memphis, but Memphis brought the coaching or lack of to a head. JMHO, the faithful began to split, and since then there have been instances that broadened the gap between the supporters of UGA. Sometimes it gets real ugly and friendships are broken. Have seen it on this board, have been involved.

sadlerdawg has mentioned FSU, also his feelings about that university. He mentioned in this thread that he "stands alone" in his extended family when the FSU subject arises. Think I am right, could stand corrected.

Will try to explain my thoughts on what happened at FSU. Try to be short.

Bobby Bowden over the years passed off coaching responsibilites to his under bosses. In a short period of time, a few years before his dismissal, coaches were running in different directions. That included bringing family in, and that was the hire that finally collapsed the walls.

Their present coach had actually been hired without the total approval of Bowden. Bobby knew the handwriting was on the wall. Just a matter of time. We now see the results of what was once a huge mess. FSU like Georgia has never had a problem with good athletes.

One of the main reasons that Bobby Bowden was allowed to remain as long as he did was this . . . . Bobby Bowden and Joe Paterno had a running battle to wear the crown of most collegiate wins. Problem with that . . . . the administrations for both universities were being very childish, not making good decisions for their football programs. All of us see the results of FSU and Penn State hierarchy, not a pretty picture from any angle.

When I look at our present stance in Athens, have said this more than once, Mark Richt is on the same path. He has already made the mistakes that were very similar to Bowden's errors. Mark Richt knows that he escaped from his first real threat, "hot seat" chatter. He wanted all to believe that he did not worry about that, to that I say this . . . . First time shame on me, second time shame on you. That is exactly how I feel about Mark Richt's coaching ability. He has not coached in Athens for a long period. He is walking in the footsteps of Bobby Bowden.

I agree with you salder, we will be having this convo next year and the year after until Richt leaves. Only reason I pointed defense out and that I'm excited to potentially get a new defense coordinator is bc defense is my part of football. Played d since peewee. Think I'm going prematurely bald seeing this defense this year. Like I said a new DC, new OC, doesn't matter won't fix our true problems.

It would be nice though to see a defense that can at least be good at tackling... Heck if we could just tackle it would solve a good portion of the problems on defense. Alot of big plays we have given up this year bc of missed tackles, guys not wrapping up. Blown coverages I can understand every once in awhile. Bad tackling no excuse in my book.

Speaking of our D...

I wonder if TG's defense can hold the off week to under 30 points.
