Georgia vs Clemson #2

I've been a "viewer" of this blog for a few years now. Decided it's finally time to chime in..

I think when you look at this mathchup you've got to say, "What is each team's greatest asset in this game." The difference in offenses IS NOT the coordinators. The difference is Georgia's ability to run the ball, punch you in the mouth, and control the ball. This is one thing Clemson CAN NOT do. They can "go fast" but they can't control the ball. I've watched a bunch of tape on McDowell. He's a great back with good vision and nice burst but definitely a drop off from Ellington. In any football game who ever stops the run and is able to run successfully wins the game. It's tough not give Georgia the nod at doing this.

That said, I think Clemson's biggest asset is Death Valley. In my opinion if this game is played in Athens or somewhere neutral like Atlanta at the National Championship (I mean peach bowl cough cough.. or Chickfila Bowl rather) Georgia would win pretty easily. Georgia has been known to collapse in big games on the road in recent years (Boise, Tenn, Usc). That's the only thing that scares me but I feel as though they've moved past that.

It should be a fun matchup and I'm excited to hit the road and head that way tomorrow! I think it all comes down to how Georgia's front 7 plays against the run, how Georgia comes out a competes from the "get-go", and of course turnovers. Finally, lets all remember that the vaunted Clemson offense with its Mastermind coordinator didn't particularity torch defenses in our league. (22ppg)

Pulled this from another thread on this board . . . .

I'm not here to convince anyone that Clemson will win this game. Just felt obligated to post because this thread is homerism at it's best. Take off the red-colored shades for a second, and see this game for what it truly is. A very even contest in which both teams have LEGITIMATE reasons to worry that this thing won't end very well.

Ever take the time to look at the responses of the Clemson faithful after their victory over LSU? Homerism, I have read many posts from the Clemson faithful, like throwing rocks in a glass house when you mention homerism.

The last statement in your paragraph above is the closest you have come to being real. The win will be decided between the lines. Interesting you post here and the first thing you do is start comparing.

Clemson will run a lot of plays, we know that. There is however one factor that might change the number of plays that Clemson will run. If you don't have serious depth on the defensive line, break out the smelling salts, more than two running backs are going to bring it. Might take a series or two, but after that, the game will be on, and if you will allow me this, AM will start picking your DB's apart. Take that to the bank. Couple of tightends that love contact and both catch the football.

National media and the talking heads seem to be jacked up, both teams will be also. Lot at stake for both teams.

Palmer03, thought this might be a good place to run this video. Players like the ones on this film, the same ones Clemson will face on Saturday, one reason I wear the red-colored glasses and present my homerism on occasion.

I for one am totally ashamed of the blatant homerism shown here on this board titled dawgs.com.

Despite the fact that we will all be dressed in red and black Saturday night.... despite the fact that
we dress our babies in UGA onesies... despite the fact we bleed red AND black.... regardless that some
of us donate our hard earned money to the university, and haven't missed a game in 20+ years... despite
the fact that our mailboxes are red and black and we have UGA flags waving in our front yards....

Despite all this... I demand an immediate halt to all UGA homerism, and that we should all act like objective
(cough) national media (cough)in Bristol and temper our enthusiasm with a fair dose of SEC hatred and arrive
at the conclusion that UGA will still win by at least 10 points.

Thank you...carry on.

God Bless and Go Dawgs

Wartdawg, you covered all of the bases with post #28. Not far from the truth in many cases. Have a Bulldog magnetic head on my tractor, sometimes even get on the street and pass "gator abodes". Love their "looks".

Getting close Wartdawg. For some reason, don't get the feeling that this team is heading to Clemson thinking about our "lack" of defense or offense. Know there will be some butterflies, to be expected. These pups have been working through all of summer and now camp. Time to toss that coin and get it on.

Palmer03, really hope you stay around after Saturday night. Don't be the type to come on here and bash us for our predictions then never show again. For some strange reason I don't think you will come back to this board if Clemson takes the L.
