Guess there is not a problem bringing up my post. I am a great believer in "fullbacks" playing football. Call them anything or by any name one wants, I calll them "fullbacks". Personally, I call them "bad you know whats". Mean so much to football, and somehow the position has been pushed back.
Some on this and other boards are going to think that I am crazy with the following statement, could very well be right. Think about it as I have since we have had a couple of signings that most approve of.
Would love to see Mike Bobo/Mark Richt use the "wishbone" with the players that are available this season. IC, Marshall and others in the running back(s) position. Quayvon Hicks and Richard Samuel and others in the "fullback" position. Don't forget that AM has "wheels" and can "chunk" the football.
If ever a team had the parts to get away from the same game that we have played for 11 seasons, this team has the parts.
Strikes me sometimes when folks talk about UGA proud moments, and usually it comes down to Herschel Walker "running the football" not many quarterbacks throwing the pigskin. Some of the most famous broadcast clips come from, and I say this with total respect, Larry Munson describing HW with the football in his hands.
This old fart can visualize IC, Marshall, Quayvon Hicks (and others) driving folks like Steve Spurrier and Will Muschamp nuts trying to defend the "speed and power" that could come from this cast. Why in my opinion should both IC and Marshall not be in the same backfield at the same time, anyone got an answer for that . . . . As a defensive coordinator, I would hate to have to defend that ground game.
Another thing to be said for using the "wishbone" . . . . makes the offensive lines job much easier. Defense has to defend the entire field, sideline to sideline, cuts down on the pass rush that we have seen too often cause our offense problems.
Just a thought folks . . . .
