Yes I think if he turns out to be the GREAT coach that we are hopeing/expecting - And CMR might be ready to do something else in a few years - I think we could be in a Texas type situation and he would be the next in line.

Hey wlayton - Know what you mean about never being right
Yes I think if he turns out to be the GREAT coach that we are hopeing/expecting - And CMR might be ready to do something else in a few years - I think we could be in a Texas type situation and he would be the next in line.
Would be a great way to keep him. Guess it's a wait and see. Don't know if he is HCing material, only time will tell......uh.....maybe we are getting a little TOO excited over Grantham?? :S

Yeah - I worry about we may be expecting too much from him
And your right about HC - sometimes guys are great as position coaching but not good coordinators and some are great as coordinators and not good head coaches
Like you said - time will tell

This is one of those logical fallacies that has been proven over again. The fallacy goes that if you are successful at step x on the organizational ladder, then you will be successful at step y. It just doesn't always work out that way. This is why, when we get a great coordinator, we should pay him to encourage him to remain a great coordinator and not chase the HC job because of the promotion.
And your right about HC - sometimes guys are great as position coaching but not good coordinators and some are great as coordinators and not good head coaches
