The recruiting finish line

History is clear. Fives stars is no guarantee of anything. I would rather have a roster full of mean, focused three stars who can be coached than all the 5 stars in the world.
The paper down here is complaining about the lack of skill players in our class. We did not need many. We are stacksed at QB, RB and TE. Having Rogers would have been nice, but he smells like another Randy Moss type problem. We are fine without him.
So if I hear anyone else all melancholy about our recruiting class I am going to drive to their location and hold them down and fart on them.
We had a great class and we will coach them up for a change.

I do not understand all the fuss over our recruit class. We addressed our needs and got some good players.

But history hasn't proven us right. Just ask yourself this: name the last football team to so much as PLAY for a national title that had a recruiting class over a four year period average a 3 star (3.00). There isn't one.
Name the last team to play for one who had an average recruiting ranking of say, 15th, over a four year period? I don't know the answer, but I have a guess that it hasn't happened.
There is one area where we did not fill our needs: LB. We signed two LBers after losing Curran plus going to a 4 LB set. We needed to sign 5-7 this year. At least we added Samuel so that's good. I know, some of the DE's may end up at OLB, but then we are just depleting the DE position.
Just my 1 cent:)

Auburn didn't play for the NC when they went 13-0 but SHOULD have.....they usually didn't have top 15 classes and they beat the snot out of people.
But I agree that you definitely need a base of very good talent to go with your 3 star work horses.....AU just popped into my head when you asked that question.

Lonnie Outlaw, who scored 10 touchdowns on only 22 catches last year and is drawing praise from opposing coaches.
“I was unfortunate enough as an assistant coach at Coffee to go up against (former Georgia receiver) Fred Gibson,” Perry coach Andy Scott told the Macon Telegraph. “Lonnie Outlaw makes Fred Gibson look like a girl. He’s the most demoralizing player I have ever coached against. We triple-covered him, and he still caught everything.”
He is probably going to spend a short time with Gordon Military and then hit Athens. Hoping that Marshall the QB will sign with us when the time comes. He is super high on everyones list.
