The recruiting finish line

Blake Barnes - five-star recruit
Joe Cox - five-star recruit
Bryan Evans - four-star (wasn't he?)
Quincy Carter - had to have been four stars at least
Andy Bailey - first placekicker we ever gave a SCHOLARSHIP to

Brandon Coutu - walk-on

All I'm trying to say is, kids who wanna play, PLAY. Coach 'em up! Let the highly-touted four-stars and five-stars who DON'T pick UGA go suffer somewhere else. They're not smart enough to be here any damn way, or they'd've picked the Red and Black!

Buc, like the fire TG is bringing. He is the 1st coach I recall saying we can win a national titile and comparing us to UF/USC/Texas. CMR always talks about \"competing to get to Atlanta.\"

We need more coaches on this staff who expect to get 7 of the top 10 players in the state for four straight years-that would produce a national title.

I am not saying get rid of anyone. But what I am saying is act like a champion , talk like a champion, have the ego of a champion (like meyer and Saban do), and with the money at our school and the 4th best state (and #1 per capita for recruiting) to produce big time players, WE can rule the east.

It is a defeatist attitude to expect that \"oh well, UF is just in a better situation\", or \"saban just has more tradition to work with\". Hell, 5 years ago Bama stunk, we were close to ruling the SEC, and then it fell apart b/c Meyer and Saban demand #1 status.

We demand TOP 10 status.

Yes, I think TG is a start. But he can't do it all. I want SEC titles and to be considered a Top 5 team every year. If we go 7-5 next year and then a 8-4//9-3, I want new coaches. I want an aggressive, in your face, brash, tirelss recruiter who DEMANDS that every recruit in this state go to UGA.

I would take Meyer and Saban in a heartbeat over Richt. Richt will be nice, the other two will win national titiles.

This isn't Kansas State. We have everyhting within 5 hours of campus-like TG says.

Kiffin just posted on twitter: \"Well congrats to Tennessee for hanging on to a couple of our recruits. But we got the important ones.\"

Can you believe that guy? What a jerk.

Good post BS. You bring many good points to the conversation. Just goes to show that ones reputation follows close behind, whether in \"civilian life\" or the \"hard core\" world of college football.

Saban has history, follows him closely. Had a hard time in Miami, but his coaching experience and many contacts allowed him to move into a situation that needed improvement and improve Bama did. Saban can and does have many of the same characteristics that Bear Bryant had. He can point that finger like Uncle Sam did in WWII and say, I WANT YOU! History proves Saban does more than talk, he coaches.

I have history with Coach Richt. Once upon a time he was the reason that FSU was a dominating force on offense. Coach Bowden was there, but promise you this, Coach Richt ran those offenses that no team in the nation could stop. He still runs the same type offense, pro style, and understands how to beat opposing defenses. Could be that his plate got too full and he tried to bring some folks along, much like Saban did over the years. Coach Grantham being one of them.

Personally believe that we are going to see not only an improvement on the D side of the ball, the offense is going to change dramatically. This is the year for Coach Bobo to show what he has, and you can bet that Coach Richt will be wearing the headphones more than ever before. There was an awakening in Athens, and Coach Richt is aware. Coach Grantham being one of them.

I also understand your feelings about taking other coaches over Coach Richt. It is a bit like taking the Yankees in baseball over the Atlanta Braves. They have all of the where with all, but I personally love seeing teams like the Braves and others kicking the Yankees butts. That is history also. Much like the history that Saban has accumulated over the years.

As far as UM, no way do I take him over Coach Richt. This state has an abundance of players and they became champions when SS took the reigns. UF has had another great recruiting class, now we will watch and see how these 5 STAR ATHLETES play in a different style offense. Urban did not have a TT in the wings . . . . TT left, TT right, that is the type of offense he ran, strange that he is now having problems making up his mind about remaining. UGA's 3/4 will be the reason that we win in JAX this year. Yes, you heard it here. Win in JAX.

One last thingy . . . . you do realize that Coach Richt has that National Championship Ring, right . . . .

The Seminoles played in five national championship games between 1993 and 2001 and won the championship in 1993 and 1999. The FSU football team was the most successful team in college football during the 1990s, boasting an 89% winning percentage.

Buc, thanks for cooling me down a bit. just passionate I guess. I am just tired of always being \"almost\" great in football. I want to win one.!!!

As far as Meyer, I would still take him-I can't stand him but his fire is 100%. he won at BGU, Utah and UF. I want that fire here.
Maybe tomorrow I want feel that way but right now I do-even though I would much prefer Richt over anyone if it was MY kid who went away to college-he is a great man.

I think you have something with the JAX 3/4 thing.

BS, you are a special poster in my opinion. Remind me a lot of ugaa. Haven't seen him in a while. Calls it like he sees it.

There are some on this board that really know the game and the history of UGA. We are all in the same boat and I think that the hiring of Coach Grantham was the best thing we could do. The man knows defense, and we have some terrific defensive players stationed in Athens right now. Looking forward to UF and UT.

One other thing, winning at some schools is good, but SEC is one tough bear. I know that Bama took a licking prior to the MNC by another school, and can you imagine how Saban felt about that. Came back and kicked butt. Undefeated.

JAX 3/4 Yep! :woohoo:
