Good post BS. You bring many good points to the conversation. Just goes to show that ones reputation follows close behind, whether in \"civilian life\" or the \"hard core\" world of college football.
Saban has history, follows him closely. Had a hard time in Miami, but his coaching experience and many contacts allowed him to move into a situation that needed improvement and improve Bama did. Saban can and does have many of the same characteristics that Bear Bryant had. He can point that finger like Uncle Sam did in WWII and say, I WANT YOU! History proves Saban does more than talk, he coaches.
I have history with Coach Richt. Once upon a time he was the reason that FSU was a dominating force on offense. Coach Bowden was there, but promise you this, Coach Richt ran those offenses that no team in the nation could stop. He still runs the same type offense, pro style, and understands how to beat opposing defenses. Could be that his plate got too full and he tried to bring some folks along, much like Saban did over the years. Coach Grantham being one of them.
Personally believe that we are going to see not only an improvement on the D side of the ball, the offense is going to change dramatically. This is the year for Coach Bobo to show what he has, and you can bet that Coach Richt will be wearing the headphones more than ever before. There was an awakening in Athens, and Coach Richt is aware. Coach Grantham being one of them.
I also understand your feelings about taking other coaches over Coach Richt. It is a bit like taking the Yankees in baseball over the Atlanta Braves. They have all of the where with all, but I personally love seeing teams like the Braves and others kicking the Yankees butts. That is history also. Much like the history that Saban has accumulated over the years.
As far as UM, no way do I take him over Coach Richt. This state has an abundance of players and they became champions when SS took the reigns. UF has had another great recruiting class, now we will watch and see how these 5 STAR ATHLETES play in a different style offense. Urban did not have a TT in the wings . . . . TT left, TT right, that is the type of offense he ran, strange that he is now having problems making up his mind about remaining. UGA's 3/4 will be the reason that we win in JAX this year. Yes, you heard it here. Win in JAX.
One last thingy . . . . you do realize that Coach Richt has that National Championship Ring, right . . . .
The Seminoles played in five national championship games between 1993 and 2001 and won the championship in 1993 and 1999. The FSU football team was the most successful team in college football during the 1990s, boasting an 89% winning percentage.
