Ashton Hagans, a 6-foot-4, 5-star from Covington, Ga., is the top point guard in the recruiting class of 2019. Pulled back from his commitment, do not care to wager the chances of him re-upping to play for Georgia.
Yante Maten, Senior, has played his last game for Georgia unless we get an NIT bid. Maten leaving Athens leaves a massive hole in our team for not only next season, at least two seasons, if ever.
Time to face up and understand that Mark Fox would enter next season with a group of young men that truly never came together as a team this year. What better time for Fox to leave and look elsewhere, considering Maten leaving, top recruit pulling back. Fox understands just exactly what next season would bring. Those that were on his band wagon would have declined in numbers and Fox would not have made it through another campaign.
Believe that Fox needs to “hone” his game up at another level. There were too many holes in his setup, that was/is shown to be true on the hardwood.
I will go along with this . . . . Mark Fox gave our program all he had. What Mark Fox did not have was the ability to spur the interest of FANS or highly talented Georgia high school basketball players.
Coach that takes the job at Georgia is going to be faced with “many problems” that will not be corrected or changed in one year. If ever LEADERSHIP was needed it is now. Anyone counting on Greg McGarity for LEADERSHIP? For those that say McGarity hired Kirby Smart and should be commended for that, I agree, but . . . . Smart had one foot in the door at South Carolina and that is the sole reason that Mark Richt was not allowed one more year at the helm. Richt asked McGarity for that.
From where I sit, our Basketball Program is at a place that will either force a good decision or . . . . all things remain the same.
I will personally get excited when we hire an Athletic Director that understands his or her job needs/duties when it comes to wearing the “big hat” in Athens.
End with this . . . . Mark Fox had nine (9) years to make his mark. Did not happen.

Was wrong about the unc/duke game also. Didn’t watch, but was very surprised with the result. This was not a good coaching year for coach k. He had the roster for a better year. His jet black hair looked great though...
As for the next uga coach... Rick Pitino would win soon, and he is looking for another shot. Just need two years of good recruiting to turn a bb program around. Safe hire if looking for wins.
Edit...without a doubt, Pitino could turn any struggling program around right away. He didn’t know about the sneaky stuff going on at louiivell... someone is going to give him a chance. Don’t see him demanding a big salary, and as said before, WINs will come soon.

Pitino won't be offered, and wouldn't accept.

The guy would have to be a dummy to not know the stuff going on at his program. He seems smart to me.
He would win games. Starts with recruiting, and Atlanta is a short drive....
Edit...I have no idea if uga offers coach p a job. If they did make an offer, he would be knocking people down to get to the table so he could accept. No way he wants to go out the way things are now. I’d say he knew the stuff going on at louyville and is kinda in denial. But, he could win in Athens, with Atlanta right up the road...
