Mark Richt -- Miami

Most that know Nick Saban and the way he runs his program are aware of the fact that he "seldom" allows his coaches to hold press conferences.

In the video below it becomes evident why Kirby Smart was the right choice to return to Athens.

Most of what he has to say during the press conference comes from his gray matter, does not use the cheat sheet a lot. Will not have to ask Claude Felton several times in a presser information that he simply did not prepare himself for. Richt was just too far removed from "preparation" both on and off the field. That is not bashing, that is calling it like it "was".

Today at 10 a.m. Mark Richt will have his "opening press conference" in Miami, plan to watch.

Again, welcome home Kirby Smart.

And yet, and yet....

Even in that game we 1) had a double digit lead late in the 3rd quarter and blew it, 2) got the ball run down our throat in the second half (I know 'bama does that to a lot of people, but-Strength and Conditioning) 3) mismanaged the clock on the last drive.

So all the things that seem like carping and nitpicking when you're beating Southern or Vandy by 3+ touchdowns, come back to bite you on the big stage.

The Richt years covered my son's formative years and we enjoyed (or not) many, many moments watching the 'dawgs that I will treasure for the rest of my life. CMR even autographed his hat at a UGA hoops game and was super nice to him (he was about 11 at the time).

Doesn't change the fact that it could have been better. Pretty easily.

Godspeed CMR, welcome CKS.

Good luck to Coach Pruitt who has been a true bright spot in his two seasons here.

If we want Eason it's pretty important for KS to have his OC in place before next weekend when the recruits are coming in...Eason included.

Eason visited UF alone, his parents are coming with him next weekend to Athens.

I believe too he will come because he wants to play in the SEC, he WILL start next year and he has friends at UGA one being OL, Ben Cleveland.

Also heard speculation today about Urban Meyer may go to the Browns for $10 million/year plus % ownership and he calls all shots on hires and players.

Then speculation about will Saban go to the Colts if he wins the NC?

Interesting times.

Just finished watching Richts opening presser for Miami.

Still talking about the "process".

Some things never change.

With that I'm done discussing Mark Richt.

Good luck Coach, hope you can retire down there.

Wartdawg, I believe in that statement lies the problem with our team. I don't mean in terms of it being a bad message, but in terms of subconciously letting our team know they don't really need to "get it done".
