Mark Richt -- Miami

averagedawg, for the first time in a long time the "U" is really excited about their new head coach.

From all I can gather, Mark Richt is excited also. He had lost that "drive" in Athens, and it had become very evident change was needed.

I hope he does well in Miami, also glad that he changed jobs. Not to be ugly, it was truly time for Richt to move on. He will get everything that he wants in South Florida, and some seem to think more than McGarity was willing to give up.

Again, watching McGarity closely.

Well said Buc. Exactly how I feel.

I wish Richt nothing but the best. My guess is that Richt will stay at Miami until he's ready to call it a career, and they'll be happy to have him. This is the first hire that school has had in ages which puts a spark back into their program.

Re: McGarity...

I'm confused about the ESPN story yesterday saying that UGA got minor infractions because Richt paid extra $ to his assistants out of his pocket because UGA wouldn't pony up for salaries he thought appropriate, citing "economic difficulties" at the University.
Economic difficulties at UGA? Huh? That one leaves me scratching my head. It's hard to say if McGarity truly had his hands tied in the money department (I find that hard to believe) or if he met Richt in the middle and then closed the checkbook after a certain amount, not believing that money was the entirety of the problem with the UGA program.

SouthernDawg, you hit the nail on the head with the comment below.

The "U" will get more out of Richt than we did after (choose a year). Mark Richt saying openly that he wanted to coach again, tells me that he was not up to par for several years.

There is no doubt that Richt/McGarity had issues. Also believe that McGarity has issues with Pruitt. That is evident.

Athletic Director does not like being called out . . . . by anyone.

Anyone that believes McGarity made the decision to fire Richt himself, nope, and it sure as heck was not a decision made on the return trip from the GT game.

Say again, McGarity is in line to be the next "removal".

Jacob Eason's personal quarterback coach thinks that UGA fans should not panic about his Florida trip right now.

Above is a subhead from the AJC. They are trying their best to make hay out of the Jacob Eason coming to Georgia.

Say again, what the heck is going on? Is college football, Georgia football especially in danger if Eason does not wear the Red and Black?

Sorry, have never seen so much "stuff" promoted by a group of supposed beat writers.

Jacob Eason is not the answer to the problems that have long existed in Athens. Quite frankly, his team was beaten in the semi-finals of the playoffs in his classification in Washington State. Supposedly he played a super game. That is a good thing. SEC is much different. Reading the AJC one would think that Jacob will come to Athens and more than likely break every existing record ever in UGA football.

Being ugly, don't think so. I do know how these high school players in Georgia, Florida and the Southeast play football. Guarantee it is different than Washington State. Amazes me that so many supposed UGA fans(?) can be so gullible and be led by a group in Atlanta that is after nothing more than "clicks".

If our new HC wants him, then I want him as well.

There's a lot of potential there, so while I don't think the sun rises and sets with his decision to come or
not; I still want as many athletes with great potential to choose here as possible.

I've seen so many kids commit, decommit blah blah that I've gotten used to them visiting other campuses and keeping options open. For all I know this kid still loves UGA and still wants to come here and play, but he's just waiting on the new coach to tell him he's still wanted badly. So with all that in mind I certainly don't want to sound like I don't give a hoot about him. I certainly do... I certainly want him here if CKS wants him here. We've got to get some serious QB talent in here pretty soon.

Where the AJC and others are going wrong though is if they think anything about any recruit is a guarantee and whether or not him coming or not means letting Richt go was a bad call. In that, they are dead wrong.

God Bless and Go Dawgs

Saturday Down South is reporting that Eason is about to de-commit from UGA and head to FL.

Story Link Here

Again, this "my sources tell me" blah blah blah. I cannot imagine Eason committing to Florida without first visiting Richt in Miami.

I'm sure FL commit Feleipé Franks is just thrilled with this. If this is a charade to draw attention to Eason and FL is going along with it, FL could end up losing both Eason and Feleipé Franks, who has already voiced his displeasure with this Eason visit.
