Richt is 100% right. LIFE is about people, not dust
collecting rings.
However, FOOTBALL on the other hand is about winning games, and winning championships.
Wartdawg, I just now saw that stinking quote from Loser - someone posted it on my Facebook page. My comment was nearly identical to yours.
People, football isn't life. It's a damn GAME. You play to WIN, or you stop PLAYING. Period. It's awesome to make a great difference in a person's life, and football CAN be a tool for accomplishing that. However, at the end of the day, that is not the PURPOSE of football.
Let's ask Herman Edwards - why do we play the game of football?
Thank you, Coach Edwards.

And finally the mask comes off in the boldest fashion it possibly could.
I really didnt want to re-open this subject, which will most certainly be seen as gratuitous Richt bashing, but it must be said:
Now you know why UGA has underperformed, Richt has been out-coached, talent has been under-developed and under-utilized, and why on the big stage, Georgia just hasn't gotten it done. There should be no remaining mysteries.
That statement is the Q.E.D. of Richt's legacy at UGA. It was never about winning, it was always about developing players. Athens was a halfway house with a flashy football program and a Bible study group; a Police Benevolent Association football team with a TV contract and an academics program. Well no thank you sir. You can take that product and sell it somewhere else because I'm not interested in buying it.
Thanks Mark for all you did, but I'm glad your jet is flying to Coral Gables and not returning. I wish you all the best.
I'm done talking about CMR. Everything that needs to be said has been said.
This chapter in the UGA football program's history is now closed.

Maybe if you're talking strictly after 2012. However, we got 6 division titles (the last in 2012) and 2 SEC titles out of Richt. I can Richt winning division or conference championships at Miami. But the only way for Miami to get more would be to win an MNC, and I don't see that happening. Since 2012 we've had 8, 10, and 9 wins. Folks in Miami would be very happy with that, and that's about how I see it hitting the ceiling there.Buc wrote: The "U" will get more out of Richt than we did after (choose a year). Mark Richt saying openly that he wanted to coach again, tells me that he was not up to par for several years.
I might add, we were a whisker away from beating Alabama in 2012.
After the Floriduh loss I told my wife that it was time for Richt to go. So, I'm definitely in agreement with the change in HC. However, he is a very good man who I still admire very much and I'm pretty uncomfortable with the Richt bashing. His tenure at Georgia brought some very good things even if it fell short of the ultimate goals.

When after 4+ years of seeing it happen your team still has no clue what to do when the other team pooch kicks, that's pretty fair game.
God Bless and Go Dawgs
