"Why do we recruit young men like Faton Bauta, if our overall plan is to continue to "basically" run the same offense that we have, dating back prior to Mike Bobo being the Georgia quarterback"

I believe they were looking for another DJ Shockley type of QB. Good passer of the ball but had escape/running abilities to keep opposing D's honest and creating mismatches.

Always have thought CMR loved the way DJ played the game and FB is a bigger mirror image imo.

For me, that is why they went after FB....DJ's style is what they were/are after and I also believe FB will be our starter next year. BR is having a tough time with all the nuances of the offense.

Still see UGA as a 65/35 pass first offense. With the RB talent we have I do not see enough carries going around to satisfy them all if the upperclassmen stay healthy that is...and if that statement holds true look for transfers to happen...

I understand what you are saying but.....

Gurley is gone after this season.....KM is an unknown quantity after his injury (he may never be completely the same OR if he has a good year he could leave as well....others have in the league that you wouldn't have thought would go).....Chubb and Michel are rookies with a LOT to learn....and Turman will play alot this year backing up Gurley and maybe Marshall (big maybe on Marshall).

If you think about it, these RB's are spaced out pretty well. After this year it may be the Turman/Chubb/Michel show.... with new recruits coming in.

This all said without even mentioning possible and PROBABLE injuries. Love to have had all these extra RB's LAST year....huh?

I am very happy with the RB situation at UGA and don't see any transferring. Now, OL?....different story.

wlayton most young people today feel a sense of entitlement. Just look at our current administration who push the entitlement attitude. The young people today are raised that way and football players are no different. They just may have that attitude they are entitled to play no matter what, and if it does not go may way I will go somewhere it will be my way.....just sayin....

Totally agree with you ogredawg.....I just feel these RB's aren't one of "those".....certainly not TG and KM. Feel Chubb is that way and don't know Michel.

Hopefully CMR got his FILL of recruiting RB's with IC attitudes. Chubb and Michel knew the situation going in so believe they will be patient and wait until they are ready.....they aren't ready yet anyway.

Short version of the grantham hire.

If you go to the 14:30 portion of this video you will get away from a lot of BS and me, my, I. grantham was with an offense that was putting over 30 points a game on the board. He is really full of himself. Have no respect for him.

Then there is Petrino in the video below, lots of offensive talk, took a couple of shots at the defense. Bobby, you better score over 50 a game if you want to win your side of the ACC Conference.

Final score in Louisville Spring game . . . . 56-13. Has Petrino's attention.

Good post wlayton. There is little doubt that Faton will run with the football if needed. That too comes back to . . . . offensive line play. Offensive line cannot be overlooked any longer. Making some inroads, hoping that the "need" remains for years to come.

Allow me this. I believe if Pruitt was to leave for a head coaching position, and he probably will, Will Friend and others will depart also. Lots of factors in this game of football.

I loved the way DJ played the game and believe FB is the same type QB. DJ may have been more elusive but FB is bigger and probably more durable.

DJ was a DGD.....1 year....1 SEC Championship.

Would love to see another QB in that mold.....DJ was very hard to defend, looks like FB would be the same.

UGA is hoping Hardin’s commitment will give the Bulldogs some much-needed momentum in recruiting the state’s top offensive linemen. UGA missed on 5-stars Chuma Edoga (USC) and Mitch Hyatt (Clemson), along with Kaleb Kim (Auburn), Cole Minshew (FSU), Dallas Warmack (Alabama), and Bailey Sharp (Auburn).

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When I look at the list of offensive linemen that we missed out on this upcoming season in recruiting, hard not to ask questions as to why.
Somehow, I cannot get it through my thick head why talented, in state offensive linemen would not want to be the "front force" for our very deep and talented running backs.
Not to start an uproar, just cannot get my gray matter wrapped around this short coming. Maybe one or two years things happen, but not the length of time this has been going on. We miss too many front line players, through what, at this point cannot say.
Question comes up again in my mind. Why is this continuing to happen?
Certainly appreciate those that chose/choose Georgia. Still hoping that our "leaders" focus on what I and others believe to be the "short coming" in the Mark Richt era. I say that because he supposedly is the final say when it comes to scholarships.
Our head coach is an offensive minded coach. That is the truth and speaks for itself. One would think that someone that played the quarterback position would understand the necessity for a very good offensive line.
Another way to look at that last statement. If you were not first string at the quarterback position in college or a short stay in the professional game, could be why there is a lack of understanding. Hard licks on the body have a way of getting ones attention. Carrying a clipboard does not.
Know that I "preach" about the offensive line, over and over, but here is my reasoning . . . .
If it is not "out there" for all to see, not a snow balls chance in hell for "overall" improvement, especially when we see so much change in the college game and more coming. Say again, the play starts with the snap, offensive line "has" to be ready mentally and physically to make the play work. No hole created, good luck running back. Pass protection not there, hard to make a play on your back. Special Teams, blocked punts are serious. Leave Special Teams alone at this point in this post Buc. New blood in town, trying to correct the stupidity of recent short comings from the coaching staff. Stop it, can talk about that later.
The "final four" is probably going to pp a lot of folks off, blogs will light up and there will be more "craziness" than we have witnessed in "years". Hold me to that. All wagers accepted.
What will happen is those in charge will quickly move to eight teams, not six, in my way of thinking. The number of eight, will rule out a lot of the "noise" that will be heard from the "final four". Remember this . . . . M&M will love that, plays right into the "marketing scheme" that they are light years ahead of those of us that are and have been "outside of the arena". Have to say this . . . . anyone that dares to make that statement is just "far enough behind" to make a stupid statement like that. I said that, have been involved with ventures in the marketing world long enough to say . . . .WTF.
Last statement in this post. Get serious about the offensive line, if we start "now" by the time the playoffs move from "four to eight" . . . . we have a chance. Figure that to be about three (3) years. By that time who amongst us believes that we have the same coaching staff?
Just asking . . . .
