My UGA friend just told me CMR said that he told Wilson and Olivadotti they are welcome to stay if they want to and he believes that they do want to stay. Guess we'll see.

In the press conference it is mentioned that the coaches that are at UGA can remain, it is their choosing.

At the 3 minute mark on video 2 are the remarks on current coaches.

My take on the hire:
The SEC is still the place to be. Pruitt didn't even wait on a counter offer from FSU.
He got a 3 yr contract which means Richt isn't going anywhere for 3 yr.
He has said the right things concerning his coaching approach, time will tell.
Last, but most telling, at least to me, he was introduced to the players with a standing ovation. Think they miss Grantham?
How much did somebody pay Louisville to hire TG?

The question I asked in the Pruitt thread was if keeping some of the existing coaches was part of the deal.

I guess that answers that. I would like to see these guys stay. I think they've "got it".

It's also good to know that Will Friend called this guy, and apparently believes in him. I trust his judgement
more than MR's.

Here's to still hoping for a dedicated ST guy as well....

I also like what he has said about teaching and fundamentals... maybe coming from high school a few years ago instead of the other direction (down from the NFL), means this guy actually remembers how to teach the basics
of coming off blocks and tackling.

The only negative so far has been this comment that after meeting MR for the first time, he knew that this (UGA) was what big time college football was all about. All I have to say about that is that he needs to get out more.

Look I despise CMR as much if not more than anyone on this board but the continued negativity on the board this week blows my mind. We all knew it was a pipe dream that CMR would leave on his own accord or be fired. We all wanted Kirby but we also knew Kirby turned us down before and for whatever reason does not want to come home as a DC. Personally I would like to see how successful he is out from under Saban's wing before him lord and saviour of a program. Muschamp was supposed to be all that and that hasn't worked out real well yet.

Pruitt is a definite step in the right direction. The man has 3 NC rings as a coach. Someone said he was voted recruiter of the year previously. His last defense led the nation - don't mention inferior competition- we gave up 21 to North Texas.

I am the biggest devil's advocate in the world - almost pessimistic- lol, but imho we should all be at least slightly pleased that a huge step up was made. Last week I was prepared to give my left testicle for some kind of improvement.

As far as Richt neutering Grantham, other than the choke sign and yelling at other teams Grantham was the same egomaniac this season that he was his first so I am not sure that was an issue.

I have said before we might never know who is responsible for us going into "not to lose" mode but I hope that will be something that Pruitt can rub off on CMR about.

I am cautiously optimistic and feel a hell of a lot better about next season than I did Monday, despite our HC.

Some are wise and some are otherwise !
