Questionable Thoughts About 2013, and Beyond

10 years 10 months ago #57407 by Buc
Another piece of "stuff" that I read today, maybe you folks did also.

I take offense to the comment from McGarity concerning "people", think that probably refers to you and I. Truthfully, think that anything concerning football is over/past our head coaches head. Second string football player, second string head coach. Guess that the "rulebook" is too complex for our head coach to understand. By the way, you Mr. McGarity were second string to Jeremy Foley, shoe fit for 10 years?

Tough guy McGarity, you and our bad a$$ head coach changed UGA football with Lakatos leaving. Probably going to a BCS or National Championship game in 2014. Really needed to get to the "core" of our problems.

Rulebook too complex for our head coach, explains what is wrong with our football team. Not the players, the "instructors". Too "complex" Mr. Greg McGarity for our defense to understand. Say that again . . . . "Too complex" for these young men coming from high school to SEC football to undertand. McGarity, sir, do you understand that? Know it is over our head coaches head, maybe the shoe fits. Please, don't sent me any more requests for funds, scrooge McGarity.

“People need to understand that violations such as these mean the system’s working,” McGarity said. “The rulebook is so complex. But when our individuals realize they’ve made a mistake, we report it. You don’t want to be back-logged with minor issues, but it’s healthy when you have them because it means people are aware they’ve made a mistake. If you have no violations reported over a period of time that probably sends a red flag. Nobody’s perfect, and there are a lot of moving pieces.”

AJC had to request this information. Not "stuff" McGarity and the "Group" want to be read by you and I. Just saying.

ATHENS —
Georgia football reported two minor NCAA violations to the SEC last month. So far neither has resulted in any penalties for the program.

In the first instance, Bulldogs coach Mark Richt on Dec. 5 reported a violation of an NCAA bylaw regarding electronic transmissions. In a letter to SEC Commissioner Mike Slive, athletic director Greg McGarity explained that Richt on Dec. 5 inadvertently texted a “good luck” message to a recruiting prospect, which is impermissible. McGarity reported that Richt intended to send the message to the prospect privately via Twitter, which is permissible.

Since the violation was inadvertent and resulted in no recruiting advantage (because contact via Twitter is allowed), Georgia has asked the SEC to waive the prescribed penalties, which include no telephone contact with prospects for 14 days and no electronic transmissions with the involved prospect for 30 days.

In late November, a football-office staff member posted on the Georgia Football Facebook page a postcard-like image of stadium lights with a message that read, “LET THE PLAYOFFS BEGIN.” It included Georgia’s “power G” logo and the GHSA logo for the Georgia High School Association and was signed “Best of Luck, Mark Richt.” That was an apparent violation of an NCAA bylaw preventing schools from “endorsing or promoting an event involving prospects.” The UGA compliance office removed the post immediately upon being notified of its existence, and the football staff was educated on the rules.

Both violations are considered Level IV violations — the least severe in the NCAA’s four-tiered compliance system — and were reported to the SEC on Dec. 12. As of Thursday, Georgia had not received a response from the SEC.

The letters to the SEC were among documents turned over to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in response to a recent open-records request.

mcgarity is an f'in punk. I can't believe when he first came on board I was stumping for him to go by Mic as an "Irish pride" thing. If he's Irish, he's an embarrassment to the rest of us.

sadlerdawg, I was riding shotgun. Both of us thought he would be all that.

Came in made a "quick show of bad a$$" and look at him now.

Many are talking about our head coach, he does not matter. Beginning to hear McGarity's name mentioned, he does not matter. The "Group" pulls the strings.

More folks are upset, do not depend on newsprint to influence decisions. AJC does not run Athens as it did once upon a time, back in VD's day.

Shows how bad we want change. Greg "Chameleon" McGarity.

McGarity and head coach have their heads together, having a hard time finding a defensive back coach.

On the other side of the Chattahoochee, Nick Saban hired his offensive coordinator, not a position coach. The "Group" in Athens are on the same "heading" for 14 years under the current head coach.

averagedawg, Alabama and Nick Saban are going to add more salt to the wound. Tennessee asked for it, Nick Saban will jump on an opportunity. Kiffin will learn a lot under the "master".

Neyland Stadium will never be the same. Gotta luv it! I do.

Makes an old fart like me "wish".

Greetings scooby . . . . First question, would I like to see Kiffin in Athens. If it would move us off center, yep.

Kiffin will make Alabama a better offensive football team, that is why Saban hired him. Punk is a word used in the "joint" that causes "problems".

Saban knew that something was not "quite right" with his offense. Being the "master" he is, called in the one person that he knew would change Alabama offensive football. Alabama was playing too many close games and coming from behind too often, Nick Saban knows that is a tough row to hoe.

scooby, 2014 is going to be a very interesting football season in the SEC. Lots of players leaving for the NFL, lots of recruits coming in with loads of talent, of which the universities in Alabama will get the best of the best.

Coaching in the SEC is going to be "something" to watch in 2014.

Tennessee vs Alabama . . . . think that M&M, Disney, ESPN will be all over that game? Mike Slive has to be loving this hire in Tuscaloosa. Mickey and Minnie, hell they have been making money since . . . .

Glad to see you on the board. Never forget this . . . . Nick Saban has forgotten more about football and football presence than anyone associated with the game. FACT. :)
