I agree fellas, no cheating should be necessary to win BUT this whole topic of "cheating" is a pretty gray area in my mind.
In other words, what constitutes "cheating" to one person might not be viewed as cheating by another person. Granted, there are some obvious forms of cheating but some are more debatable...
Using Nick Saban as an example since most everybody here seems to think he is the measuring stick for CFB coaches these days:
Is having 20 something football coaches disguised on your staff with bogus titles such as assistant film coordinator, associate scouting director, or graduate public relations liaison cheating?
Is oversigning cheating?
Is cutting non-productive players from their scholarships for non-specific "issues" (i.e. made up reasons) cheating?
Is bribing the local authorities to turn a blind eye to any football players' transgressions cheating?
Just curious where you guys stand on these & other topics along the "fine line" between winning at all cost & bending but not breaking obvious rules?
For the record, I personally feel that Saban cheats because he clearly bends (possibly breaks) the rules in place in regards to staff size, oversigning, & releasing under-performing players from University scholarships to free up room for more recruits. I do recognize that he is simply taking advantage of porous NCAA rules & regulations but I still consider this cheating nonetheless.
The sad thing to me is he PROBABLY is a good enough coach to win & win big without bending the rules but I guess we'll never know for sure because Saban has always run his programs in this manner. I am proud that CMR does not take such an aggressive approach to manipulating the system in place but I am willing to bet my last dime that we (UGA) would have a few more wins each season if CMR were to do things the "Saban" way.
IT'S GREAT TO BE A GATOR HATER!!!
