I am done with Richt

Average, you are right my man. I live in Corryton, TN which is about 20 miles outside of Knoxville. Didn't live here in the early 90's but family moved here toward the later part. I remember watching the games when I lived in GA, and always thinking, why can we not beat these guys. Moved here, made friends, and remember always hearing, "you know UGA will never beat ut besides a fluke year" Hate to say this, but for a long time I believed that.

I never saw us even really compete for an SEC championship until Richt came along. I understand he is dropping the ball, and am not taking up for him. But I just see how many consider him as an idiot, or failure, and before Richt, I never even saw us compete for a SEC championship, let alone even be in NC talks. I can't say that this man's tenure at UGA has been a failure. He brought success to our school, I had never witnessed with my own eyes. I understand what we did with HW and those teams, but I hear about hose stories, and of course watch old tapes. Like I have said, CMR made UGA relevant again on a national scale. Please don't confuse this with wanting CMR to be back. Just simply saying, many want to give him no credit for the good he has done. Last year, I don't know if I have ever seen a game as electrifying as last year's SEC Championship game.

GO DAWGS. I am thankful CMR coached at UGA. Hoping the next man builds on what CMR brought back.

I don't think Richt is an idiot. I don't hate the guy.

I think he did a lot of wonderful things for the program, and elevated the program back
to relevance.

As long as he remains the coach, I will cheer for the team as hard as I can and I will
try to talk about what we can do to win SEC titles.

I wished it never came to the point where I feel that the program needs to move on in
order to move up, but it happens. Even the very best reach a point where it's time to
move on. Sometimes different voices need to be heard.

God Bless and Go Dawgs

This is all he has. Richt has taken us as far as he can. He has nothing else.

Mark Richt will be the toughest removal or resignation that I will or have witnessed concerning the University of Georgia. Do think that Mark Richt should give it up. If not there are going to be some tough rows to hoe in the near future.

Some might not like this, but I seem to always say it anyway.

I was very frustrated when Richt apologized to Meyer. There was no reason to do that except for this . . . . Richt is a gentleman. The part that I did not like was the "gentle" part of "gentleman".

Urban would and will do anything to win a football game. As bad as that sounds, that is exactly where college football is right now. If you disagree with that last statement then you are not paying close attention to the way college football is being played this day and time.

Shalala said in no uncertain terms to Emmert . . . . want to play hardball, bring it on. That is exactly what Urban Meyer does, has done, will continue to do. What is not being said publically concerning Meyer . . . . AD said get the hell out of Gainesville. Of course at that point, Meyer already had his new estate secured and paid for in Ohio. Not that Ohio State would break the rules, right?

Point I am trying to make. You either play hardball or get trampled. Think about that, is the picture not clear, seems pretty focused to me. That is the point that kentdaddy is making, from where I sit. Folks want to talk SEC Championships or National Titles, ain't gonna happen when you hug the rule book too tightly. That is not saying you have to break every rule, but you sure as heck better play on the same side of the rules that others have been and are still doing. Need only refer anyone to the recent NCAA vs University of Miami, can't get that much corruption in college football and get away with it, right?

What is that old saying . . . . "Cheaters never win, winners never cheat". Maybe that was true at some point in time, don't believe that is the case now.

Soon college football will be in a face off with the NFL. Colleges have the product, the problem right now with college football . . . . the same thing I have seen posted here and every other blog that I visit, lacking leadership. College football is soon to be college football, not a group that the NFL will be able to run over. NFL shuddered when the SEC made a pact with M&M.

Now that Mickey and Minnie are involved, they will control both "houses" and Disney will be the executive branch. Won't be tomorrow, but it is coming around the bend.

sadlerdawg said in this thread, it ain't the same. kentdaddy said it ain't the same. College football that I have followed for more years than I can count, is soon to be governed by . . . . follow the money. Who is going to supply that money . . . . yep, you guessed it.

Might not like to hear that, but anyone that doubts the wide screens and the folks that control the media from top to bottom are in this for our gratification . . . . might want to rethink your position. JMHO.

If you have not read the link below, might want to take a look see.

I was a huge supporter of Garner leaving UGA. Reason, it was known that he preferred a special few. Garner was not all about substitution. Appears that Auburn is two deep on the defensive line and playing everyone. Ellis Johnson has a way of creating great college defenses wherever he lands. Not saying that Auburn is great, just worth looking at the stats below.

Guess you know that takes me back to Todd Grantham.

Chris Wilson comes aboard and says right off the get go, going to play everyone capable on the defensive line. Depth. Appears to be the one part of our team that is playing SEC football.

Todd Grantham still caught up in preparing his linebackers and defensive ends to move on to the NFL. Sooner or later we will face the fact that this is where Grantham is at . . . . his heart remains in the NFL. Think that he still cannot believe some team in the NFL does not want his expertise. Totally bruised ego. Add to that a little piece that was posted in this thread earlier about the visits recruits are getting from different coaches. Grantham is not the second coming. FACT.

That is the way I see it. The NFL has a code, much like other professions, taking care of their own. We saw that displayed when Grantham made a cameo appearance in New Orleans. Wonder why he did not get the job, think his efforts or lack of same in Athens did not set well with those that treasure their futures in the league.

Takes me to this . . . . who hired Grantham and who will fire/release Grantham? Remember the Richt/Martinez episode? Probably more of the same. I Know what Nick Saban would do. Hate to say this but . . . . know what Urban Meyer would do. College football is no longer handled the way it was a short time ago. Players and fans are speaking up, those on Mahogany Row need to take a serious look at where the University of Georgia is at, football wise. I sure as heck have never played for second, might have ended up there, not by choice. Higher ups at UGA have some choices to make. JMO.

Also Grantham when on video likes to tell us about his Red Zone Defense. Goes like this, can't pick and choose one or two instances Todd, overall usually decides on who moves on. Again, JMHO.

Very good and interesting post Buc....

Brings up a discussion I heard on a radio show a few years ago from a frustrated host that is a ASU fan. His question was......"would you rather have won a NC even though you cheated or have integrity, play by the rules and never win a NC?"

He chose to cheat......I can't go that way no matter the outcome. I'm a believer that you can win NC's and play by the rules.......seen it, done it.
