A lot of truth in the above statement. Aligns with what Wartdawg said in his post above . . . . I think.

Let some people say we are young, the first reply to that is the loaded 2012 defense, and the second reply is that all we asked for with youth is progress.

Fire.. yep, I liked it as well. The bad thing is that now it seems it was just a smokescreen.

Smokescreen has been a tactical weapon on many different fronts. When we think about it, football is basically war.

Looking around found Mike Bobo's comments about Vandy's defense interesting. Don't think I am reading anything into the interview that he did not say.

Hear words like "discipline" "well coached".

Interesting how Franklin described Grantham. IMO.

3/4 defense, Vandy will cause Herrera some headaches in coverage. Hard to understand sometimes.

Thinking out loud again.

Nick Saban, could not make it in the pros. College speaks for itself.

Jim Mora, same can be said that was typed above.

Bobby Petrino, same can be said.

Understand the hard feelings folks in Atlanta and other areas have about Mora and especially Petrino. Might want to keep this little fact in mind. Who hired Mora and Petrino. Sometimes we have to reach a little higher and look at who truly controls hirings and firings.

Yes I understand the "very good man" talk that will follow. I also understand that there is a time limit on getting the production line moving.

Many more examples than the three given above, those have a special meaning, one way or another in the South.

We can hit the recruiting trail full force, tell the young men that we want them to be another Jarvis Jones. What really counts is teaching these young men how to play their particular position. Bet is that Vanderbilt will try and hit the edges of our defense, why not, check out the Missouri game film.

Like I said, thinking out loud. Grantham has four years at the defensive helm, sure as heck does not look like a Saban/Smart defense. Also does not show the forward movement that the other coaches are showing and will only get better.

Just as some folks are not pro football coaches, some are not college football coaches. Really don't like the game of hide and go seek. Either can or can't, how many more years needed for our young men to learn how to play fast . . . .

Lots of great stuff here guys. I'm not so sure CTG can get it turned around either Buc???

I'm expecting to see some personnel changes on this side of the ball for the tilt in Nashville. Lord knows something has to change if any of our D coaches value their jobs (Coach Chris Wilson EXCLUDED). IMHO, our D-line has been the only bright spot in 2013.

That said, the loss on Sat. cannot be SOLELY laid on CTG as this was a total team loss, ALL 3 phases & coaching contributed mightily as has been discussed here ad nauseam...BUT I can tell you from reading here & many other places, the Bulldog faithful are WAY PAST READY to see some MUCH NEEDED improvement from our so called D-E-F-E-N-S-E.

Great question Buc, how long will it take to show at least SOME PROGRESS? Clock is ticking!

Much has been said Goose, and it would be wrong if other areas of our team were not mentioned. Actually there have been some very insightful opinions on our offensive play.

I try not to make excuses, hope this is not taken that way. The entire team looked like they were having a bit of a let down. We have been in some games that will drain the "juices", most of those on this board know that. Missouri had everything to gain, and that is the way they played between the Hedges.

Would think at this point the offensive line would be a bit more settled. Appears we still have some problems there.

Punting according to Mark Richt might not be settled until warm ups in the Vandy game.

Chris Wilson said that he was going to substitute freely before the 2013 Season started, seems he is sticking pretty close to that statement. Grantham has actually shown some love for the defensive line play. Appears to be the only working part on that side of the ball.

This statement is again showing my age. Three yards and a cloud of dust was at one point a punch in the ribs.

However, defense not playing at a higher level than it is now, unforgiveable. Unforgiveable when there is so much talent on the defensive side of the ball. I know one coach that ran the defense in Athens that never had this amount of talent, but they played their hearts out for him and never did they throw their arms in the air asking what do we do now. That was the coach that should have replaced VD. Single biggest mistake ever made by those making decisions in Athens. JMHO.

Good to see you up again Goose. :)

Buc, the game has changed so much it would be interesting to see how Erk would defend these offenses in today's game. That giving up 17 per game would be awful tough to do.
